⬡ Is a Software that helps on managing computer
resources, helps operate computer system and provide
platform for running application.
⬡ System software functions as a bridge between
computer hardware and application software

1. Operating System (O.S.)
⬡ a software enables the computer hardware to communicate
and operate with other softwares.
⬡ Without Operating System software, a computer is useless.
⬡ Examples:

2. Utility Software
⬡ Are software that helps maintain and repair
computer system.
⬡ It helps in disk formatting, defragmentation,
virus cleaning, unused files cleaning, etc.
⬡ Examples: Antivirus Software, Back-up
Utility, Tune-up utility, Disk cleaner, Disk
defragmenter.

3. Device Driver Software
⬡ Are special softwares which helps to
function special hardwares that are
attached in the computer externally like:
Mouse, Keyboard, USB Drive, Web
camera, microphone, printer, scanner, etc.
⬡ Device Driver helps in communication
between main computer and other
peripheral devices like Printer, Web cam,
etc.

4. Language Processor Software
⬡ As we know, software are made using special types of
language called programming language.
⬡ These language processor convert the High level
programming language into Low level programming or
machine level languages.
⬡ They are: Assembler, Compiler, and Interpreter.

some specific tasks like: Creating
documents, editing photos, playing
games, watching videos, playing
music. Etc.

1. Tailored or Customized Software
⬡ These software are made to perform specific task of
an Organization or company. These are designed
specially by software programmers on consulting with
the specific organization.
⬡ Examples: Banking Software, Library System Software,
School management software, Inventory and Sales

2. Generic Software
⬡ Are designed for general public to do some
specific task.
⬡ Example: Photo viewer, PDF reader, Games, VLC
media player, tiktok, facebook app, etc.

3. Packaged Software
⬡ Are a bunch of softwares combined in a single package.
⬡ Example: Microsoft Office, Adobe Graphics Package
