Performance Task 1: Digital Advocacy Project (DEADLINE FEB 9)

🎯 Objective
To demonstrate students’ ability to apply new literacies (media, information, digital, and critical literacy) in
creating an advocacy material that promotes responsible and meaningful use of media and technology across
disciplines.

📌 Instructions
Individual, select a social, educational, or community issue related to media and technology (e.g., fake
news, cyberbullying, digital citizenship, online learning, privacy, AI use in education).
Create a digital advocacy material that raises awareness and encourages responsible information use. Your
output may be any of the following:
 Infographic
 Short video (2–4 minutes)
 Brochure
 Social media campaign post
Your advocacy must:
 Present accurate and reliable information,
 Show creative and critical use of media, and
 Communicate a clear and persuasive message.
In addition, submit a 1–2 page reflection paper explaining:
 What issue you chose and why,
 How you applied new literacies across the curriculum, and
 What impact your advocacy aims to achieve.

Performance Task 2: Community-Based Literacy Project (DEADLINE FEB 16)


🎯 Objective
To connect new literacies with real-world community needs by designing a practical literacy project for a
specific group or sector.

📌 Instructions
In groups, identify a target sector (e.g., students, parents, youth, vendors, senior citizens, teachers). Choose
one major focus area:
 Multicultural Literacy
 Cultural Literacy
 Social Literacy
 Financial Literacy
Design a community-based literacy project that addresses the needs of your chosen group. Your project
should clearly explain:
1. The problem or need of the community.
2. The goal and objectives of your project.
3. The activities and strategies you will use.
4. The materials or digital tools needed.
5. The expected outcomes of the project.
Create at least one sample material, such as:
 Poster or infographic
 Mini-module
 Short video
 Social media guide
 Workshop handout
Finally, prepare a short presentation to defend and explain your project.
