Describe trends: The quantity of travellers using Heathrow
airport started at just over 27 million people in 1998, after which
it went up steadily to 40.2 million people in 2000. Afterwards,
there was a slight fluctuation between 37.1 million people and
43.6 million people over a three-year period between 2001 and
2003. Additionally, the number of travellers using Gatwick
airport commenced at well over 3.6 million people in 1998, and
this was followed by a boom to more than 31 million people.
Then, it increased noticeably, booming to just over 33 million
people from 1999 to 2002. After that, it finished with just under
40 million people in 2003, the figure being the peak level of the
table during the whole period. Subsequently, there was a
constant growth in the number of travellers to nearly 40 million
people in 2000. At this point, a three-year period between 2001
and 2003 experienced a stability at 43.3 million people. The
disparity between Stansted airport and Heathrow airport became
more evident when travellers using the latter increased
moderately to over.
