The word 'baur' literally means to

mix, mingle, or integrate
into a community or group.
Indonesia's cultural characteristic of
being naturally sociable and
community-oriented creates an
essential need for quality public
spaces.

Addressing the challenge of developing quality public spaces in Indonesian society, Baur is designed to welcome all social layers
to interact openly while respecting diverse opinions, perspectives, and beliefs. Through varied design compositions and
installation materials, Baur can be implemented as a public space that demonstrates how unity doesn't require uniformity, the
differences can complement and strengthen each other.

[Link] is created from several different material products, including Milan ceramics,
Habitat, M-Class, Elephant gypsum Board (Echo Block), and Elephant Woodplank.
Each of these material products has distinctive characteristics and advantages as
space-forming elements so they can 'baur' (blend) in forming an attractive unified
installation.

The main purpose of public space itself is that every individual has equal rights to
access it with a sense of safety and comfort. Similarly with the materials presented
in this baur installation, where most are materials that are rigid, hard, and sturdy.
This aims not only to protect its users but also simultaneously with dynamic and
artistic touches and combinations, it is expected to create an impression of calm,
softness, and comfort.

All products from Milan ceramics, Habitat, M-Class, Elephant gypsum Board, and
Elephant Woodplank have aligned vision and mission to provide comfort and safety
for their users even though they have different product functions.

1. Selendang Naung

Diverse activities in public spaces

certainly desire protection both
physically and psychologically.
Physical means protection against
anything that can damage or
threaten the safety of its users, while
psychological focuses more on
feelings of safety and tranquility for
users who are under its shelter.

The roof that functions as a place to shelter from various activities also has almost the same function as a scarf, which most times
used to protect certain body parts. Starting from this, the roof form that seems rigid and hard is made more dynamic like the
swing of a scarf to shelter more expressive public space activities underneath.

The M-Class ceramic tile product used in this Baur installation has a hard and rigid structure, but with the advantages of unique
form and system, M-Class can be shaped more dynamically without reducing protection in the space it shelters.

2. Sangkar Suara (Voice Cage) Personal space is also needed in public space activities as part of the tolerance
function in public space use itself. The voice cage is made to respond to the
personal space side for some public space users who allow themselves to step out
in a situational change, both in terms of privacy in communication and from a visual
perspective.

This space can be private, quiet, silent,

3. Sela Riung
(Gathering Space)

Public space essentially contributes

to the formation of local identity as
something that can be promoted
and enjoyed publicly. Sela riung itself
has a local meaning as a place to
gather and socialize and is expected
to accommodate and contain all
interests in that public area.

Sela riung which can be accessed

from various sides, implements that
wherever the community comes
from, whether from different
backgrounds, races, or cultures, they
can meet at the same point or
destination to mix and exchange
thoughts freely with each other.

This is also realized with the types of floor materials used in this area are also different but function as one purpose to
accommodate various community activities both socially and culturally. The circulation pattern in this sela riung is also arranged

[Link] reflects archipelago architecture without having to start from the philosophy
of composing the physical form of our traditional buildings.

This proves that archipelago architectural values can continue to be preserved

without having to start from visual impressions or forms alone, but from the
philosophical values of culture, habits, and steadfastness of principles that will form
an authentic architecture that is formed organically with contemporary context.

family gatherings, socializing, interacting, and communal dining, whether with family
members, friends, or visiting guests.

These activities occur intensely and require dedicated spaces, whether for regular,
periodic, or spontaneous gatherings. The culture of togetherness is always highly
valued.

Based on this cultural foundation, the architect developed a core concept: despite
the need for complex spatial arrangements, the design maximizes every space and
corner so all residents can still interact with one another, whether for
communication or gathering together.

The master bedroom and prayer room are located on level 2 of the first building
mass, while other bedrooms are positioned on level 3 of the first building mass and
level 2 of the second building mass. The strategic placement of the master
bedroom (parents' room) and prayer room means children must pass through
these spaces when accessing their rooms or gathering in the viewing room.

This creates natural opportunities for interaction with parents and encourages
family worship together during prayer times. This spatial strategy intentionally
supports the development of children's character and personality through regular
family interaction

to create an intimate impression, while the exterior walls are equipped with large
mirrors as accents to make the room appear more spacious.

natural openings. The combination

However, this price increase is not aligned with adequate building quality, whether in
terms of building material quality, space quality, comfort, or other architectural
aspects.

If occupied permanently, residents will experience complaints related to these

various aspects. Meanwhile, if used as an investment instrument, purchases that
are then abandoned with minimal maintenance will cause a decline in building
quality. As a result, future selling prices will not meet expectations.

structure. Given the homeowner's background as an academic in agriculture, we
