TOPIC: FOOD AND DIGESTION (Lesson no. 1)
Sub Topic : Food groups, Nutrients, Carbohydrates ,Proteins,
Vitamins and minerals, Roughage, Water, Balanced
Diet, Digestion, Good Eating, habits for proper
digestion, cooking food and food preservation.
Objectives : At the end of the chapter, the students will be able
to:
• Understood why food is needed for energy, repair
and growth of the body.
• List out different food groups.
• Define balanced diet and its importance.
• Ways by which food can be preserved.
• Define digestion and process of digestion.

Activity:
• Collage Making: Each student will bring one or
two pictures of food items containing different
nutrients. Then they will paste them on the

chapatti into a fine paste. It will begin to taste
sweet. By this activity, students will understand
better the change of starch in chapatti into
simple sugars.

• Describe the different types of microbes.
