TWO LOCAL RETAIL OUTLETS

Student Name: ____________

Class & Section: ____________
Subject: Retail / Business Studies

Introduction
Store layout refers to the way products, aisles, and sections are arranged in a retail store. A good
layout helps customers shop easily and improves sales. In this project, two local retail outlets were
studied to understand differences in their store layouts.
Retail Outlet 1: Large Supermarket

The supermarket has a large and well-organized layout. Wide aisles allow easy movement.
Products are arranged by category such as groceries, dairy, snacks, and household items. Clear
signboards help customers locate products. Multiple billing counters reduce waiting time.
Retail Outlet 2: Small Grocery Store

The local grocery store is small and compact. Aisles are narrow and shelves are closely packed.
Products are arranged based on daily demand. There are few signboards and customers often ask
the shopkeeper for items. There is usually one billing counter.
Comparison of Both Store Layouts

The supermarket is spacious, well-organized, and customer-friendly, while the grocery store is
compact and suitable for quick shopping. Supermarkets focus on comfort and display, whereas
grocery stores focus on convenience.
Conclusion

This project shows that store layout plays an important role in retail business. Different layouts
serve different customer needs. Both types of stores are important in daily life.
