INTRODUCTION- Care of

Being healthy does not just mean having no illnesses. A person is


healthy only when they are physically, mentally, and socially fit.
Adolescents undergo physical changes that require increased energy,
requiring a nutritious and Balanced Diet. A lack of nutrition in our diet
can impact our physical and mental development. Similarly, we can
remain healthy by maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of ourselves and
our surroundings.

Activity-1
Who is healthy?

Process:

(1) Ask voluntary participants about what they think health is.
(2) After getting the answer, tell them that health is the state of
any wellbeing of any person.
 When a person lives well physically, mentally and with
everyone in the society, only then that person is called
healthy.

(3)Now show the participants cards 1-3 from Demonstration


Material 7.1 (a) Health cards one by one.

Ask more questions:-

3(a) What are you looking for in this card?

3(b) Would you say the boy shown on the card is healthy? Give
reasons for your answer.

(Note: The motivator should show only one card at a time and ask
the participants to look at that card carefully).

(4)Then , explain about health using the demonstration material

 A person is called healthy only when he is


physically, Socially or mentally well .
 There are 3 main components of health.
 PHYSICAL HEALTH-When there is no disease in
the body .
 MENTAL HEALTH- When we can control our
emotions . Avoid stress and Anger .
 Social Health- When we can build good
relationships with other people in society and
maintain them.
5) Now explain Motivational Display Material 7.1(c) identifying Health
to the participants.

6) Explaining the importance of health, we emphasize that we can
only remain healthy if we live well physically, mentally, and
socially and maintain good behaviour. Health isn’t simply
about the absence of pain or illness. It also means staying

ACTIVITY-2
Warp
Weft
1) Motivate participants by asking them about health and asking
them to play a game of warp and weft.
2) The motivator takes a ball of thread and ties a knot on their
finger. Then, they throw the thread to another participant
3) The participant who receives the ball should also tie the thread to
their finger and identify an aspect or symbol of Good Health.
Then, they should throw the thread to another participant .
4) Continue this game until all participants have answered.
5) By the end of the game , the thread will have form a warp . Then
explain to the participants that just as the balls of thread form a
warp , the different aspects or identities you all mentioned
together form a good health. If any of these aspects or parts are
not in order, a person is considered unwell. Just like if one end or
aspect of fabric becomes weak in a warp weft.
6) Now , Display material 7.1 (d) Tell the participants about ways to
stay healthy.

EAT A BALANCED DIET

Activity-1
Let’s Go To The Canteen
Process:

First, put the menu on the wall in front of you.

1) Facilitator should Motivate participants by telling them that we


need to eat food to keep our bodies healthy and help them grow .
Good food or healthy Diet.
 It helps our body organs to function properly.
 Makes us stronger
 Provides essential nutrition to our body in the right amount.
 Protect us from diseases.
 Satisfies our Hunger .

2) Now the facilitator should tell the participants that today we all
will go to the canteen together.
3) Now all the participants please select any one item which you
want to order and eat?
4) Then tick the selected item (food menu) in Display 7.2 (a). If
selected item is not in the menu, write Tick.
5) Now the facilitator should ask each group –
What did our bodies gain from the food you chose?
6) After receiving the answers, the facilitator should tell the
participants that we should eat a balanced diet . Balanced means
eating the right amount of food and eating nutritious food .
A balanced diet helps our bodies grow and provides strength to
fight diseases.
7) Now show the picture of Motivational Display Material 7.2(b)
Let’s Grow and Shine and explain about the different food groups.

7.2(b) Come, Rise and Shine
Our food can be divided into three groups –

1) Energy/Strength Giving Things:


Foods made from these ingredients are also called “go” or
“let’s go” foods. These ingredients are rich in carbohydrates
and fats, which provide energy or strength to the body. Such
foods include foods made from rice, refined flour, semolina,
wheat, potatoes, sugar etc.

2) Things that strengthen the body :


Foods made from these ingredients are also called “grow”
Foods .These ingredients are rich in protein , which
strengthens the body and gives it vitality. Such foods include
milk, yogurt, cheese ,eggs meat , fish and lentils.

3) Protective Elements:
Foods made from these ingredients are also called ‘Glow’
Foods. These ingredients are rich in vitamins, and minerals
which give the body the strength to fight disease . Foods
made from green vegetables , spinach, Goosefoot , cabbage,
carrots, sprouted lentils , and fruits etc.
8) After this, motivate the participants by showing them Material 7.2
( C 1 and C2) – a picture of a balanced diet plate and explain
through the picture that we should eat the right quantity and
choose the right food from different food groups in our daily diet
as shown in the picture .

9) Now ask the participants what they learned today.

ACTIVITY- 2
WHAT TO EAT NOW?

BALANCED DIET- Meal Menu

Process:-

1) The facilitator should ask all the participants about balanced diet.
2) After getting the correct answer, tell the participants that today
we will make our kitchen menu .
3) Now the facilitator asks the participants to recall their food intake
over the last 2-3 days.
4) Next, write down the food that participants ate on a chart/ board.
5) Then write the nutrients or food groups found in that food in that
chart and tell the participants.
6) Now ask the participants to prepare the menu for breakfast ,
lunch and dinner for the next day.
7) When all the participants have prepared the menu, the facilitator
should ensure that the menu contains a balanced diet.
8) Now explain to the participants that a balanced diet is essential
for our body’s overall development.
Eat the right amount of food at the right time keeps us healthy.
Activity-3
Good Eating Habits

1) Facilitator: Divide all participants into 2 or 3 groups.


2) Now give each group chart paper and colours.
3) Tell all the participants that each group will have to make a poster
or slogan on good eating habits .
4) Also, each group must write their name on the back or bottom of
the chart.
5) Give 15- 20 minutes to make a poster or slogan .
6) After this, show the posters/ slogans of each group one by one to
everyone and ask them to vote for the best poster/slogan .
NOTE: Also ask and discuss the reason for choosing the best
poster/slogan. Discuss the message of the poster , colour
matching , design etc.
7) Now ask the participants what they learned today .

1) Motivate participants and tell them that today we will understand


the importance of cleanliness of ourselves and our surroundings.
2) Facilitator should tell everyone that by maintaining cleanliness
we can make ourselves and the environment healthy and
beautiful.
3) Now the facilitator should tell the participants that we will go on
a picnic today. Then show everyone the demonstration material
(f) drama material 7.3 Chintu went for a walk.
4) Then , Demonstration Material 7.3 (g) Explain about good habits
of cleaning oneself and surroundings .

Activity – 2
Adopt Good Habits

Process-

1) The facilitator will tell the participants that in the previous activity,
we learned about keeping ourselves and our surroundings clean. Today,
we will learn about some related good habits.

2) Now ask all participants to stand in a circle. Then spread the


demonstration material 7.3 (h) Ups and Downs Game on the floor.

3 ) Tell the participants that in this game the snake is representing its
own bad or dirty habits and all the stairs are representing its good
habits of keeping itself clean.

4) Now explain the rules of the demo material 7.3 Ups and Downs game
to the motivated participants.

Stay Healthy- Today and Tomorrow.

Rules Of The Game.


 Only 4 participants can play this game at a time.
 If there are more than 4 participants in the group , divide them
into groups of 4.
 To begin the game, have 4 participants stand at the start.
 Ask participants to roll the dice in order.
 Participants can only start the game when they roll a 1 or 6.
 Participants move forward according to the number on the dice.
 Continue the game in this manner.
 When a player reaches the mouth of the snake, they must read
the message written there and climb. (Note: If a participant
cannot read, the facilitator or another participant can help them
read it.)
 If someone reaches the bottom of the stairs, he should read the
message written there and go up.
 The participant who reaches the “finish” first will be the winner.

5) Now the facilitator will ask some questions related to the Game
played.

 What did you like about the game?


 What did you learn from the game?

6) Finally, explain to the participants that just as we have become


winners by climbing the stairs, similarly by adopting the good habits
mentioned on these stairs, we can become healthy and make our lives
happy.

 The more a person pays attention to his cleanliness, the less he


will fall ill and will become an example of a healthy person for
others.

7 ) Now ask the participants what they learned today.
