 Date
 Employer's name and address
 Salutation
 Body
 Complimentary Closing

 Enclosures
A cover letter has three parts:
 Introduction
 Body
 Conclusion
 Introduction: In this part you should detail the
job you are applying for, and, if relevant, the
circumstances that have led to this (e.g., an
advertisement, or recommendation of an agency).

 Body: The body of the cover letter gives you an

opportunity to represent yourself to the employer.

a. Explain why you are suitable for this job. Emphasize

the skills which make you particularly suitable for the
job.

b. Write about your present job (if you have any) and
why you are looking to move on.
c. List briefly the personal qualities you would
bring to it.
d. Answer any specific questions posed by the
advert or job details.

It is important not to exceed one page. Also, do

not write too much. It is to be noted that two, or
at most three, short punchy paragraphs are more
effective than a lengthy prose.
 Conclusion:
a. Conclusion should sum up briefly the key points
made in the body of the letter.
b. It should round the letter off, leaving the reader
