Tutorial exercise: Assessing the argumentative essay.
Introduction:
Is the South African government really doing everything in its power to help and support the
entrepreneurs and business owners of our economy? According to South Africa's history,
social injustice cycles and financial inequality intensify these [Link] business
owners frequently lack the funds to support their operations and don't have the necessary
credit standing to secure financing.(Ibrahim Abdulla Alnassai, 2023)Regarding the above
topic the author agrees with the statement and what is being said and this essay will show
[Link], the author will discuss why the many barriers that are visible are
preventing the government from making a meaningful contribution to the economy. A
counter argument and refutation against what the other points are will be provided by the
author as well.
Access to financial resources
When starting a new firm/company or even a business, one of the biggest challenges is
managing the finances, which may be difficult for [Link] immediate effects of
unemployment (typically) include a decrease in income and an increase in time spent on
leisure and other non-labor market activities. As a result, the degree of pleasure with regard
to money declines while the level with relation to free time [Link] primary activities of the
company, such as the acquisition of products and services and the making of long-term
investments, need the usage of financial resources.(Financial Resources, n.d.)
A way to store money, manage payments and cash flows, build savings, get credit, and make
investments are all made possible with the help of financial services, which are crucial for
both individuals and businesses.(The Government Supports Entrepreneurs, n.d.) Also
important for obtaining assets and establishing financial stability is this [Link]
entrepreneurs have many ideas, adequate funding is required to turn those ideas into
profitable businesses. For the production process to remain seamless, there should be a
reliable and consistent source of funding. Further obstacles can be overcome if this initial
and most important barrier can be simply overcome
Non-strategic planning
A significant obstacle to entrepreneurship success can also be caused by poor planning
[Link] order to document a company's desired course, strategic planning is a continuous
organizational exercise. The goals of the business are aligned with shareholders' and
workers' interests using this approach, which also helps to prioritize efforts and distribute
resources efficiently. It also makes sure that the organization's goals are supported by facts
and reason.(Why Is Strategic Planning Important? | HBS Online, 2020)
There are many business owners who launched their ventures just out of interest and
without any long-term goals or plans. Poor planning and tactics may result in the failure of
the company or a significant loss for the company. The majority of business owners give up
in the first year of operation for this main reason. To be a successful entrepreneur and to
have a strategic vision to accomplish objectives, one needs to have a strong passion and
dedication.(Barriers to Entrepreneurship - Javatpoint, n.d.)
A flawless strategic plan is based on the target audience, market conditions, consumer
preferences, tastes, the efficient use of human, financial, and other resources, and the
future.
Political Barriers
Regional or national politics can also act as a deterrent to entrepreneurship. So, an
entrepreneur should research the government's policies and the incentives it provides to
business [Link] National Minimum Wage, for example, has an influence on business
profitability and employee rights. They can enact new legislation like this. Governments may
also pass new health and safety regulations that require businesses to alter their operations,
for instance by educating their [Link] to the lack of highly qualified people in South
Africa, less skilled workers should be supplemented rather than replaced by highly skilled
ones.(Reporter, n.d.)
The unemployment rate will decline if there are more highly educated people available. The
government incurs no direct costs as a result of this strategy, which is predicted to boost tax
[Link] is due to the fact that not all governments offer entrepreneurs socioeconomic
resources. Therefore, it is necessary to give careful consideration to the interest in economic
[Link] growth is slowed by political instability, which also increases
unemployment and poverty. It encourages mismanagement, corruption, a shorter time
horizon for decision-making, inconsistent policies, and [Link] shield them from market
competition and to help them thrive in the market, some governments offer special security
to new businesses. So, before establishing a company firm, an entrepreneur must carefully
consider political considerations. It greatly aids in the long-term survival and expansion of
the company.
Key factors on what the government can do to improve entrepreneurship challenges.
However, to shield them from market competition and to help them thrive in the market,
the government has various resources that they can implement. For example, they can offer
financial assistance to new and young entrepreneurs. They can also have workshops and
host conventions to educate as well as give entrepreneurs opportunities to grow their
networks and perhaps even expand their business, this will help grow the economy as well
as open up jobs for many people. The purpose of this program is to better the understanding
of business and entrepreneurship among young people.(Small Business Development |
South African Government, n.d.)The government can facilitate access to business support
for young people through loans and a voucher scheme.
Conclusion:
To conclude everything that has been stated, there are various factors and barriers that are
preventing or delaying the government from providing the necessary resources and support
that the entrepreneurial ecosystem needs from them. Unemployment in an economy will
always have a massive impact on the development of not only the country but also the
people that live in it. The need to improve and provide a solution on how the government
can get past those barriers in order to provide that support should be of utmost importance.
Educating the public and providing resources on entrepreneurship is the first step in solving
and bettering the unemployment rate. It is the small differences that will lead to bigger
solutions to the challenges that are creating entrepreneurial opportunities and lower the
unemployment rate.
