Module: 4 Social Media Marketing (SMM) & Web Analytics

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing, or SMM, is a form of internet marketing that involves creating and sharing
content on social media networks in order to achieve your marketing and branding goals.

Social media marketing (SMM) refers to techniques that target social media platforms and
applications like Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to spread brand awareness or promote products or
services.

Thus, Social media marketing is perceived as a more targeted type of advertising and is therefore
believed to be very effective in creating brand awareness.

Benefits of Social Media Marketing

1. Increase your brand awareness.

2. Generate leads and boost conversions.
3. Foster relationships with your customers.
4. Learn from your competitors.

Facebook Marketing

Facebook marketing refers to the use of Facebook's platform and tools to promote products, services,
brands, or content to a specific target audience.

It involves creating and managing content, ads, and interactions on Facebook to reach and engage
potential customers, increase brand awareness, drive website traffic, generate leads, and ultimately
achieve marketing goals using the various features and advertising options available on the social
media platform.

Twitter Marketing

Twitter marketing refers to the use of the social media platform Twitter as a means to promote
products, services, brands, or individuals. It involves strategies and activities such as creating engaging
content, interacting with followers, utilizing hashtags, running ads, conducting polls, and leveraging
influencers to increase visibility, engage with the audience, drive traffic, and ultimately achieve
marketing goals.

Linkedin Marketing

LinkedIn marketing refers to the strategic use of the LinkedIn platform to promote a brand, engage
with a professional audience, generate leads, and build relationships. It involves creating and sharing
valuable content, networking, advertising, and utilizing LinkedIn's features to reach and connect with a
targeted audience for business growth and opportunities.
Google plus Marketing

Google Plus (Google+) was a social networking platform created by Google. Google Plus marketing
refers to using this platform as a part of a digital marketing strategy.

It involved leveraging Google Plus features like creating business pages, sharing content, engaging
with users in communities, utilizing hangouts for video conferencing, and using +1s (similar to likes)
to increase brand visibility and engagement.

However, Google+ was shut down by Google in April 2019, so current marketing strategies now focus
on other platforms like Google My Business, Google Ads, and Google's search engine to reach and
engage with audiences.

YouTube Marketing

YouTube marketing refers to the use of the YouTube platform as a means to promote, advertise, or
market products, services, brands, or content to a target audience.

It involves creating and sharing compelling videos on YouTube to engage viewers, increase brand
awareness, drive traffic to websites, generate leads, or boost sales through various promotional
strategies tailored for the platform.

Strategies may include creating tutorials, product reviews, vlogs, advertisements, or collaborating with
influencers to reach and resonate with the intended audience.

Pinterest Marketing

Pinterest marketing refers to the use of the Pinterest platform as a marketing tool to promote products,
services, or content.

It involves creating engaging visuals, such as pins and boards, to attract and engage users, driving
traffic to websites or increasing brand awareness.

Strategies may include creating compelling content, optimizing for search, leveraging group boards,
and utilizing Pinterest's advertising options to reach and engage with a targeted audience.

Snapchat Marketing

Snapchat marketing refers to the use of the Snapchat platform to promote products, services, or
brands to its users. It involves leveraging Snapchat's features like Stories, filters, lenses, ads, and
other interactive tools to engage with the audience, create brand awareness, drive traffic, and increase
sales or conversions.

This form of marketing typically targets a younger demographic due to Snapchat's popularity among
younger users and its unique visual and ephemeral nature.

Instagram Marketing

Instagram marketing refers to the use of the Instagram platform as a means to promote products,
services, or brands.
It involves creating and sharing content, such as images, videos, stories, reels, and ads, to engage with
the target audience, increase brand awareness, drive traffic to a website, and ultimately, convert
followers into customers or clients. Strategies often include utilizing hashtags, collaborations with
influencers, posting engaging content, and using Instagram's various features to reach and connect
with a wider audience.

the goals, strategies, industry, and the effectiveness of the campaigns.

against the costs incurred. It includes metrics like engagement rates, conversions, leads, and overall

Web Analytics

Web analytics is the process of analyzing the behavior of visitors to a website. This involves tracking,
reviewing and reporting data to measure web activity, including the use of a website and its
components, such as webpages, images and videos.

Web Analytics is the process of collecting, processing, and analyzing of website data.

With Web analytics, we can truly see how effective our marketing campaigns have been, find
problems in our online services and make them better, and create customer profiles to boost the
profitability of advertisement and sales efforts.

website, what content they engage with, and how they navigate through it. This insight aids in
improving user experience and increasing conversions.

and marketers to track and analyze various aspects of website traffic and user behavior. It provides
insights into visitor demographics, acquisition sources, user engagement, conversion rates, and more.

such as traffic, user behavior, and conversions. It typically includes metrics like the number of
visitors, page views, session duration, bounce rate, and traffic sources.

with specific parameters. This allows you to track the performance of each campaign, identifying
which sources are driving traffic and conversions.

Conversion tracking focuses on measuring specific actions users take on a website, such as making a
purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or filling out a form. It helps to determine the success of your
website in terms of achieving business goals.

Implementing these features often involves using tools like Google Analytics or other web analytics
platforms, setting up tracking codes, and analyzing the collected data to make informed decisions
about website optimization and marketing strategies.

various tags and snippets of code on your website or mobile app without having to manually edit the
site's code.

It simplifies the process of adding and updating tags for tracking, analytics, remarketing, and other
functionalities, providing a user-friendly interface to manage these elements.

GTM helps marketers and website administrators to efficiently organize and implement tracking
scripts from various sources without directly altering the website's codebase.

gain insights into audience behavior, engagement, trends, and effectiveness of marketing strategies.

This process helps businesses understand their audience better, optimize content, measure campaign
performance, and make data-driven decisions to enhance their social media presence. Tools like
Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, and third-party software help in gathering and interpreting this
data.
