I. Analyst Considerations before starting the project.

1. Confirm if you have received the proposal and client mail of the requirements.
2. Confirm if you have listened the client recordings.
3. Confirm if you have a word with the Anuj/Team who has made the proposal.
4. Confirm if you have understood the project. Before jumping to primary, have a clarity about
the scope and product.
5. Always make a habit of taking the kick-off call with the client so that he can make you
understand better.
II. Analyst considerations during the project.
Table of Content
Crosscheck all the years that has been mentioned in the content of the ToC and make sure years are
mentioned for all sections.
For the revenues share slides, the years would be last year (2020) and the year till which the
forecasting is done (2027F).
For the slides where revenues and volume are provided, the years would be all the years for which it
is provided (2017-2027F).
Logic of Structure of Slides:

Always remember the slide structure should be top level to in-depth level. The general assumption
of making the slides is the reader would be top level – to mid-level – junior level. Hence the top-level
executives usually don’t have that much time and hence would mostly rely on your bullet points or
your key insights. Hence for every slide there should be key highlights or insight which summarizes
the whole slide. The highlight should not be more than 20-30 words. The reader then goes down to
the graphical analysis to understand the insights.

As mentioned, the reader doesn’t like to read much text hence do not overrun the slide with too
much text. The structure of the slides can be followed as below.

For normal slides i.e with Graphs

1. 20-30 Words insights or highlights which summarizes the whole slide or your hypothesis and
the logical reasoning behind it.
2. Detailed Analysis (Right Half or Left Half) – Will explain in detail the reasoning and examples.
3. Graphical representation
Graph should occupy the rest of the slide and the slide should not look empty. Heading should
clearly state what the graph is all about. Years and Units should be correctly mentioned.

For normal slides i.e. without Graphs Whole Content Like Regulations
1. 20-30 Words insights or highlights which summarizes the whole slide or your hypothesis and
the logical reasoning behind it. For example, let’s say the slide is about the regulatory
framework. Now considering this, the content is whole theoretical in Nature. However, it
can be broken down to series of presentation mentioned as below.
a) Developing the understanding of the whole content and divide the whole content into
various types like type of regulations, Department involved etc.
b) Present the category derived from point above into some pictorial/Tabular
representation.
c) Then explain each point briefly.

Content of the Slides:

The reasoning of any market growth should be local not general. Avoid definition as the reader of
the reports is very aware about the product. For example, if we say the growth of sanitizers in 2020
is because it kills 99% germs, there is no reason the growth is in 2020 or in India, because we are
touching or giving the reason as features of the product not the growth reasons. Hence one needs to
understand the difference between features of product or drivers of the growth. Growth of
sanitizers in 2020 is because we faced pandemic in 2020 and viruses are known to be spread by
touching and sanitizers kills germs and hence there was increasing demand of sanitizers in 2020. So,
understand it is because there was some local challenge or issue and hence there was increasing
demand of the feature that is killing of germs and hence it led to increasing demand of sanitizers.
The demand didn’t increase because it kills but because of covid 19, there was demand of this
feature of killing germs and hence growth of sanitizers. Hence always remember to differentiate
between features or actual reasoning.
The graphs should reflect the trend downfall or uptick.

Avoid drivers such as Increasing disposable income, GDP, standard living…

Difference between KPI and Drivers.

Drivers are the latest or recent positive change due to which the market is growing, it is not
necessarily be consistent and may be temporarily in nature. Driver can be quantitative and
qualitative in Nature. However, KPIs means the parameters on which the main market is dependent
or the measurable figures performance of which can decide the performance of main market. For
example, driver of Hand Sanitizers can be covid 19 however KPI can be increasing number of hospital
beds or hospitals (they are used in Hospitals). If Covid 19 becomes permanent, then this will become
KPI as we can judge the performance of hand sanitizer through the performance of Covid 19.

Table Formatting

Tables should be sorted through some logic either Year wise, or Value etc. Text content should be
left aligned, numbers should be in center, use separators.

For e.g., below table is arranged in the descending order of project value.

Pie Chart Formatting

Pie charts should also be sorted by some logic. First check if the data is in the form of kVA ratings,
capacity, etc. If not, then arrange the pie in descending order of percentage share. Remember,
others segment will always come at last.

Porters

Porters should be country specific and not general. In supplier’s power, suppliers are the raw
material suppliers and not OEM or distributor/ dealers.

Trends and Evolution

Trends are usually in terms of latest trends in products and technology. It is usually can be mapped
by doing primary research and then rating them based on percentage of respondents or analyst logic
of rating importance.

Evolution means the changes in trends or technology over a period. If the evolution is not traceable
the analyst can track key industry leaders and check their news and developments of products. Post
which timelines can be framed as the developments of the companies you see.

Every slide is a conclusive slide and that concludes something may be the opportunities in various
product, or reasoning or etc but slide can’t be inconclusive. As an analyst one must draw conclusions
from slide themselves. Same conclusion can be written at the top of slide in 20-30 Words. If you
can’t conclude from the slide that means something is missing.

Insights - This is the core of the report. One need to understand how it can be developed.

1. Certain insights or reasoning can be directly asked from primary research like trends,
reasoning for growth of any products or segments.
2. Derived Insights can be made while analyzing the KPI’s of the industry. For example, if you
see any KPI is growing let’s say towards products or region. You will have reason to say
why that region or product is expected to grow as the KPI is driving that.
3. While doing secondary research, analyst usually in a position to understand the market in
depth and thus in a position to generate insights where he believes the market is heading.

Company Benchmarking – This should include key parameters of operations like production units,
key clients, product offerings, geographical presence, key distributors, number of distributors, sales
volume etc.

If mentioning key developments in benchmarking slide, kindly note that product launch and awards
are not key developments. Key developments can be merger/ acquisition, opening of a new
manufacturing unit, appointment of C level executive etc. Key developments should not be older
than a year.

Company profile – This includes basic information however one should double check the name of
the executives, designation, and every detail from the authentic source only. LinkedIn can be used as
source if no other source of information is available. The text should not be to promote any
company, therefore avoid using words such as market leader, best workforce, awarded so and so,
and it should be general.
Points to be kept in mind to maintain quality –

1. While providing the company rankings or presenting a company as market leader, one
should support that with proper reasoning as why are we showing it as leader, why does a
particular company has such a large share, etc.
2. While mentioning drivers, data related to the future period supporting that should be
provided and not for the past period.
3. KPIs should be more specific as mentioning the regions in which the particular sector is
growing, the product segment which would grow because of the particular sector.
4. Mention the reason of growth in a particular sub-segment, the data should be short and
crisp but with proper reasoning.

III. Analyst considerations before submitting the project.

Double Check: Kindly double check the grammar and spelling error by F7 and other shortcuts. Also,
crosscheck the numbers in the graphs with the final excel sheet before sending the file. Remove
double spacing, Pie sum should be 100%, copyright should be latest, sources are updated. Check for
plagiarism in the entire file.

Primary Database: The analyst must submit the primary survey details in excel so to authenticate
the information. Further, use only company provided LinkedIn accounts or submit the credentials to
the company.

Self Checks

 Check the formatting of the entire report.

 Crosscheck all CAGRs and Revenue/Volume in the file with the excel sheet.
 Conduct spell check (F7) for spelling errors.
 Check the page numbers of slides.
 Make sure that the numbering in TOC are correct and consistent.
 Check the units and years on figure headings and table headings.
 Check if content is not directly copy pasted from Google or any other reports.
 Check that the slide titles are correct and consistent.
 Make sure that the titles are correctly representing the Graphs, Pie and Tables.
 Check that the total of all the pie charts are 100%.
 Check that the CAGR calculations are correct.
