Introduction and Roles & Responsibilities
Hi, I am Abhisek Sahoo, and I am from Odisha.
Coming to my experience, I have around 3.2 years of experience in Production Support and
Application Support, mainly in the Banking and Financial Services domain.
My core technical skills include Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX/Linux, and Shell Scripting. Along with
this, I have basic knowledge of Core Java and experience working with batch and ETL
applications. I also have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, which help me identify
issues quickly and provide timely resolutions.
Apart from technical skills, I have strong knowledge of ITIL processes, including Incident
Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Release Management, and I
have hands-on experience handling P1 to P4 incidents within SLA.
Coming to the project I worked on, it is called Treasury Data Hub (TDH) at Deutsche Bank. This
project belongs to the banking domain and supports critical treasury and regulatory reporting
systems used by multiple internal and external stakeholders.
In this project, I was involved in providing L1 and L2 production and application support for
large-scale enterprise applications running in a 24×7 production environment. We closely
followed SLA guidelines to ensure high system availability and smooth business operations.
Whenever issues were reported, I performed impact analysis, picked tickets based on priority,
and worked towards quick resolution. I investigated application and data-related issues using
Oracle SQL and PL/SQL queries, including data validation and reconciliation.
I also supported batch jobs and ETL workflows, monitored file processing, and handled job
failures using tools like Control-M and CRONTAB. I regularly performed application and system
health checks and proactively responded to alerts generated from monitoring tools such as
Geneos, Splunk, Grafana, and Nagios.
In addition to this, I handled and resolved critical P1 and P2 incidents, actively participated in
bridge calls, and coordinated with Development, QA, DBA, and Infrastructure teams for
permanent fixes. For major incidents, I prepared RCA documents and updated knowledge base
articles to avoid recurrence.
I also supported release and deployment activities, performed sanity testing after changes, and
worked closely with development teams during release windows. In some cases, we replicated
issues in lower environments to perform proper analysis before escalating to the development
team.
Apart from this, I worked on Shell scripting for operational support and basic automation, used
Jenkins for CI/CD-related activities, and supported AWS-based applications with basic
knowledge of EC2, VPC, and IAM.
I also provided on-call, weekend, and holiday support as part of a rotation schedule, ensuring
continuous system support.
Yes, this is all about me.
What tools and technologies have you worked with?
Technologies: Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Unix/Linux, Shell Scripting, and basic Core Java.
Application Servers: JBoss and Apache Tomcat.
Monitoring & Logging Tools: Nagios, Kibana, Grafana, and Kafka for application and system
monitoring.
CI/CD & Version Control: Jenkins for builds and deployments, and Git and SVN for source
control.
Ticketing & ITSM Tools: ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, JIRA, and Freshdesk for incident, change,
and problem management.
Cloude Technology: AWS
Utilities & Other Tools: PuTTY, Toad, Postman, FileZilla, WinSCP, and VMware for server access,
database operations, API testing, file transfers, and environment access.
I mainly use these tools to handle L1/L2 support, P1/P2 incidents, deployments, monitoring,
and root cause analysis in production environments.”
I have hands-on experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, along with UNIX/Linux and Shell
Scripting, which I use extensively for production troubleshooting, data validation, batch job
support, and automation activities. I also have basic knowledge of Core Java, which helps me
analyze application logs and understand application behavior during issue investigation.
I have worked with application servers such as Apache Tomcat and JBoss, supporting
deployments, application restarts, and environment-related troubleshooting.
For monitoring and logging, I have used tools like Nagios, Grafana, Kibana, and Geneos to
monitor application health, system performance, batch job status, and proactively respond to
alerts. I have also used Splunk and ELK stack for log analysis and issue investigation.
In terms of CI/CD and version control, I have hands-on experience with Jenkins for build
monitoring and deployment support, along with Git and SVN for source code version control
and release coordination.
For incident and change management, I have worked extensively with ServiceNow and JIRA,
following ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management. I also have exposure
to BMC Remedy for ticket handling in production environments.
Additionally, I regularly use utilities and support tools such as PuTTY, WinSCP, FileZilla, SQL
Developer, Postman, VMware, and Toad for server access, file transfers, database operations,
API testing, and environment access.
Overall, I use these tools to effectively handle L1/L2 production support, manage P1 and P2
incidents, support deployments and releases, perform root cause analysis, and ensure high
availability and stability of applications in 24×7 production environments.
