Objective: Using various commands to create styles in LibreOffice
Writer.
Task: Type a paragraph with at least 100 words and create below
given styles as instructed:
1. Heading: Font name: Times New Roman, Size: 20, Color: Blue.
Give the style name: My work (Use create style from selection
command to create style)
2. Paragraph: Apply Style Text Body from the Style Gallery
3. Quote: Font Name: Broadway, Size:20, Color: Red, Alignment:

Center. Give the style name: DreamQuote.

Steps Performed:
1. Creating styles for Heading and Quote
➢ Click on Format Menu and Open Style and Formatting dialog box.
➢ Click on New Style by clicking on “New Style from Selection”.
➢ Type the desired names. For example, My work for heading and
DreamQuote for Quote
➢ Select the given formatting from the update style dialog box.
➢ Click on OK

2. Applying styles from Gallery (Text Body to paragraph)


➢ Select the paragraph
➢ Open Styles and Formatting Dialog box
➢ Select the Text Body style
➢ Apply the style on it.

Learning Outcome – Insert and Use Images in LibreOffice Writer


Assignment 2
Objective: Inserting images and shapes and rearranging them
Solution:

Steps:
Inserting Picture:
1. Open a new document in LibreOffice Writer.
2. Insert an image in the document using Insert → Image → From File.
3. Select image and then click on rotate tool. Observe four dots known as
handles, appeared on four corners of the image.
4. Move the mouse on any corner and observe that the ‘rotate’ symbol is
activated.
5. Click on rotate symbol on the top right corner of the image and drag it to
downward direction.
6. The image is rotated.

Inserting Shape:
7. Select the Rectangle tool from the toolbar.
8. Place the cursor on the location to draw the family tree and drag it to create
a rectangle.
9. Enter the text in all three rectangular boxes.
10. Select the type of line from line tool to draw lines showing hierarchical
relation.

Assignment 3

Steps:
 Application Letter Template Contents
1. Open the document in LibreOffice Writer whose template is to be created.
2. Insert the shape for school logo.
3. Type School Name and Address.
4. Type Subject line.
5. Type the matter required for the application.
6. Apply formatting.
7. Save the file.
8. From the main menu bar, select File → Templates → Save as Templates to
mark your document as template.
9. Type the name of the new template in the Template Name text box.
10. Select the category of the template being created.
11. Click and select Set as Default Template checkbox to make the current
template as the default template.
12. Click Save button to save the template. A template in Writer is saved with
an extension (.ott )

Assignment 4

Solution:
1. Open the document in LibreOffice Writer.
2. Apply appropriate level of headings from the Styles and Formatting
window.
3. Click on Insert → Table of Contents and Index → Table of Contents, Index
or Bibliography.
4. In the Type the Titles text box, type Digital Documentation (Advanced).
5. Click on OK.

Assignment 5
Objective: Record Changes using Track Changes Feature
Task: Prepare a document for review and record the changes

Solution:
1. Once the Track Changes Features is ON, the reviewers can begin recording
the changes in the document.
2. Click Edit > Track Changes > Record option (Ctrl + Shift + C).
3. Once the Record option is selected, the Track Changes feature is ON. Any
character being deleted will be strike through text and any character added
will be shown in different color.
4. To stop recording, deselect the record option by selecting Edit > Track
Changes > Record or click the Record button on the toolbar.

Assignment 1
Objective: Applying Data Consolidation in LibreOffice Calc
Task:
1. Create two sheets Marks_Term1 and Marks_Term2 to save the marks in
Term1 and Term2 for the students.
2. Now, use the consolidate function to merge these two sheets.

Solution:
1. Create a new spreadsheet in LibreOffice Calc.
2. Enter the data for Sheet 1 and rename sheet as Term1. To rename the
worksheet right click on sheet tab then type the desired name. Press enter key
to accept the name.
3. Click on Data > Consolidate, the Consolidate dialog window will open.
4. In the Function box, choose Sum function from the drop down.
5. Click in the Source data ranges box and then click on the worksheet Term1
and select the area to be consolidated and then click on the Add button will
add the copy reference in the consolidation ranges.
6. Click on the sheet Term2 and select the area to be consolidated and then
click on Add will add the next consolidation range.
7. Click on the ‘+’ sign next to Options in the Consolidate dialog window to
change the settings and select Row labels, Column labels and Link to source
data.
8. Click on ‘Copy results to’ and then click on any of the cell in the
Consolidate sheet where you want to copy the final result after consolidation.
9. Click on OK button. The Consolidate sheet will display the data after
consolidation.
Assignment 2
Objective: Applying subtotal in LibreOffice Calc
Task: Prepare a worksheet as following:

Solution:
1. Open spreadsheet software and enter the data as following:
2. Select the data. Needs to be grouped using subtotal.

3. Click on Data → Subtotal. The Subtotal dialog box appears

4. Select column in Group By option then mark the column to count the
frequency for the category and finally select the count function as displayed
the following screenshot.
5. Click on OK button.

Assignment 3
Objective: Goal seek Application
Task: A student is planning her goals about the marks she should attain in
the forthcoming examinations in order to achieve 85%. Assuming that the
examination of each subject is for 100 marks, her marks of PA 1 and Term 1
are given as under:
Solution:

1. Enter data as given in the question itself.


2. Place the cursor to get the result for the marks of term 2.
3. Place the cursor in B7 and write average() formula.
4. Now click on Tools → Goal Seek option.
5. Check the formula cell (it should be B7 only).
6. Now write the target value i.e. 85.
7. Select the cell B6 to see the value to adjust the marks.
8. Repeat the same steps Maths and IT as well.

Learning Outcome – Using Macro in Spreadsheet


Assignment 4
Solution:
1. Create the spreadsheet. Write the heading “Data Analysis” in cell A1.
2. Choose Tools > Macros > Record Macro. Perform the actions mentioned
above in the spreadsheet.
3. Click Stop Recording to stop the Macro Recorder.
4. The Basic Macro dialog appear, in which you can save and run the macro.
5. A Standard library is present by default when a spreadsheet is created and
saved.
6. To save the macro, first select the object where you want to save the macro
in the Save macro in list box. The Main macro is saved by default in the
Standard Library in Module1. Here, we have named the macro as
FormatHeading.

Run a Macro
1. Type the heading in Cell A1.
2. Open the Macro selector dialog box by clicking Tools > Macros >
Run Macro.
3. Click on MyMacro > Standard > Module1. Then select
FormatHeading from the Macro Name box and click Run.

Assignment 5

Objective: Link data and Spreadsheet


Task: Prepare a worksheet as following:

Solution:
1. First copy the Name of the Student from Term1 sheet to Result Sheet, copy
all the headings of and give the name as Final Result.
2. Click on the = icon next to the input line (or type = in cell C4), type Sum ()
and click between the brackets.
3. Now click on the Term1 sheet and click the Maths Marks for the first
student and add (,) comma for the next value.
4. Next click on the Term2 sheet and click on the Maths marks for the first
student.

Learning Outcome – Share and review a spreadsheet


Assignment 6

Objective: Setting up a spreadsheet for sharing.


Task: Create a new file in spreadsheet software and enable sharing.

Solution:
1. Create a new worksheet and enter data.
2. Click on File → Save and Use proper name for the worksheet.
3. Click on Tools → Share Document.

[Link] Share Document dialog box will appear. Click on Share this
spreadsheet with other users.
[Link] OK button.
