Chapter 3: Methodology
This chapter explains how the research
was conducted.
It tells the reader the steps, tools, and
methods used by the researchers to
collect and analyze data.
Research Design
It refers to the overall plan or
approach used in the study.
It explains the type of qualitative
research employed (e.g
phenomenological, case study,
descriptive qualitative, or narrative)
EXAMPLE:
“This study used a qualitative
phenomenological research design
to explore the lived experiences of
Grade 11 (STRAND) students in doing
research.”
Locale of the Study
It refers to the place or setting
where the research was
conducted.

Respect and privacy.
EXAMPLE:
“The researchers ensured
that ethical standards were
followed. Participants were
informed about the purpose of
the study, and their participation
was voluntary.”
Research Instrument
It refers to the tool used to collect
data in the study.
In qualitative research, this
commonly includes interview
guides or open-ended questions.
EXAMPLE:
“The researchers used a
semi-structured interview
guide consisting of open-
ended questions.”
Analysis of Data
It refers to the process of
organizing, examining, and
