Mathematics Performance Task Group 3

The document presents an investigation into student tardiness among Grade 8-1 students at Saint Augustine’s School for the school year 2025-2026, aiming to identify causes and solutions for improving punctuality. Data collected in July 2025 shows a low average tardiness rate of 0.82, with the most common occurrence being no tardiness at all. Recommendations include reflection papers for frequent latecomers and rewards for punctual students to encourage better attendance.

Introduction:

Imagine a class where everyone arrives right on time,

every time. Our Investigation
seeks to transform this vision into a reality by exploring
student tardiness among Grade 8-1 Students for the
school year 2025-2026, and finding a way to ensure that
everyone arrives on time ready to learn. Our
Investigation aims to thoroughly examine and
understand the reasons and factors that affect the
students late coming.

By hearing the reasons of why the students arrive late

whether it is on transportation, lack of sleep, or not
knowing/losing track of time. We believe that through
the initiation of this observation we hope and are
determined to find solutions on how to lessen late
comers not only helping us but also to class officers,
teachers, advisers, personnel, parents and most
importantly to the YMO office.

July 2025

By looking at the raw data table and graph above, it

shows that we have had only 17 school days, 8
weekends, and 6 suspensions in the month of July.
Analyzing this will help educators and officers to
navigate and get information on which day has the most
tardiness or late comers. This also shows the range and
spreadness of the data by 0 or No Tardy being the lowest
and 3 being the highest.

Interpretation of results:

The data showcases that there are different tardiness in

Grade 8-1 for the month of [Link] measures of central
tendency tell how common they are from each other and
their average of student tardiness. The average of
student tardiness is almost none which is 0.82, while the
median is 1 saying that in half of the days there is only 1
late student or none and the other half of the days has
late comers greater or more than 1, the mode is 0 this
implies that the most frequent occurring tardiness is
none. Measures of variability tells how far or spread or
dispersed the data is. The range being 3 which tells the
gap and spread the data is, Mean Absolute Deviation or
MAD being 0.77 telling the average distance of each
value from the mean 0.82, Variance being 0.85 and
Standard Deviation or SD being 0.92 which indicates
that tardiness times are relatively late and individual
tardiness times are close to the mean.

To conclude the tardiness of 8-1 is consistently low and

arriving on time displaying strong commitment to
punctuality and perfect attendance
Recommendation:

1. Make the student with most tardiness do a reflection

paper
2. Give a reward to the student that has no tardiness
every month like lolipops
3. Give certificates of points to the student with no
tardiness every month
4. Make the student that has a lot of tardiness clean the
room, and fix the chairs while the others clean the zone
area
