Student Engagement Techniques
• Active Learning: This method asks students to engage in their
learning by thinking, discussing, investigating, and creating . In
class, students practice skills, solve problems, struggle with
complex questions, make decisions, propose solutions, and
explain ideas in their own words through writing and discussion.
• Problem-based learning is a teaching method in which students
learn about a subject through the experience of solving an
open-ended problem. It is a teaching method in which complex
real world problems are used as the vehicle to promote student
learning of concepts and principles.
Classroom Management Strategies
• Begin to establish an effective environment in the class.
• Interact with students regularly.
• Hold your students accountable.
• Use proximity.
• Nip minor disruptions in the bud.
• Avoid sarcasm
• Talk privately with the disruptive student
• Confronting inappropriate language.
Group Project
• It is a cooperative learning assignment that requires students to
work with peer group members to plan, discuss, and complete a
specific project, often over the course of an entire period.
• Group projects can help students develop skills specific to
collaborative efforts, allowing students to tackle more complex
problems, delegate roles and responsibilities, share diverse
perspectives, pool knowledge and skills and also hold one
another accountable.

Basic Teaching Model
• The basic teaching model, developed by Robert Glaser in 1962, is a four-

• 2. Entering behaviors: It assesses students’ prior knowledge and skills before the
instruction begins.
• 3. Instructional procedures: these are the teaching methods, strategies, and
activities the teacher uses to guide students.
• 4. Performance assessment: It is the final step where the student’s learning is
evaluated to see whether the objectives were met.
• This model provides a systematic way to structure teaching, guide the learning
process, and improve outcomes by using feedback from assessments to adjust
instruction.
Extension Teaching
• Extension Teaching is a system of educational outreach that provides learning
opportunities to people who are not attending regular formal schooling.
• It is a sequence of progressive steps, undertaken to create situations that are conducive
to effective learning.
• The goal of extension teaching is to bring about desirable changes in human behavior
through education.
• The steps in Extension Teaching are :
1. Attention: make people aware of new ideas, practices, or objects of the topic
concerned.
2. Interest: Stimulate interest by providing more information about the topic.
3. Desire: Unfreeze existing behavior and motivate people for change.
4. Conviction: Convince people about the applicability of the new idea or practice in their
own situation.
5. Action: Put the idea or practice into operation.
6. Satisfaction: Provide satisfaction.
