Executive Summary
In recent years, as life has become more hectic, instant noodles have evolved
from a simple convenience food into a popular yet practical dietary choice. Following
the pandemic, the global convenience food industry continues to grow, with consumer
demand for quick meals steadily rising. Market research indicates that the worldwide
convenience food market will expand from $421 billion to $601 billion between 2024
and 2030. As the most representative category, instant noodles reached a market size
of $58.8 billion in 2023 and are expected to grow to $93 billion by 2032. However,
rising health awareness has also led to greater scrutiny of the high sodium and fat
content of traditional instant noodles, making consumer demand for healthier
alternatives a key driver of industry transformation.
Seizing this opportunity, Noodle Nation (NN) is positioning itself as a health-
conscious instant noodle brand. Its core selling points — "high protein, low sodium,
low fat" — address market expectations regarding nutrition and wellness. NN offers
highly customisable products, enabling consumers to select their preferred broth base,
noodle type, and toppings on the NN website to create their own unique flavour
experiences. This approach enhances brand appeal and customer loyalty. NN insists
on using high-quality noodles and fresh ingredients, and offers healthy toppings such
as tofu and shrimp, which are high in protein and low in fat. This transforms instant
noodles into a new choice that combines convenience with nutrition.
In its target market, NN focuses on Gen Z, students, and young professionals
— consumers who prioritise efficiency and health, and are willing to pay a fair price
for quality and innovation. Products will be available not only through online stores
but also at convenience stores and small shops near campuses, boosting brand
visibility and making purchasing easier.
NN primarily uses social media for marketing purposes. Through short-form
video channels such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, NN runs cooking
challenges, tasting videos, and interactive activities to boost engagement and generate
interest in the brand. The brand also collaborates with influencers and encourages
user-generated content (UGC) to increase its online presence: data analytics track
interaction rates and sales conversions to continuously optimise marketing
effectiveness.
Overall, Noodle Nation is successfully entering the rapidly growing market for
healthy ready-to-eat food by combining health innovation, customised experiences,
and digital marketing strategies. It is set to become the new fast-food choice for the
next generation of consumers, embodying the values of health, deliciousness, and
convenience.
Industry Research
After the COVID-19 pandemic, the global Convenience Food segment has
undergone significant change and is expected to continue to grow. “This segment is
expected to maintain the continued robust and resilient growth in retail sales over the
next couple of years. In this segment, economic growth and rising disposable income
drive consumption, enabling consumers to purchase more convenience food products.
Additionally, urbanization and lifestyle changes, such as long working hours, are also
factors that drive demand.” (Statista, 2025). According to the same Statista report,
Convenience Food is set to grow the industry’s total revenues from $421 billion in
2024 to an expected $601 billion in 2030. If we focus specifically on the Instant
Noodles segment, it is possible to say that in 2023, the total market size for the
category reached $ 58.8 billion. Due to the increasing popularity of Asian cultures and
changes in consumer behaviour, the market is set to experience resilient growth,
reaching $93 billion in 2032 (a 6% CAGR) (SkyQuest, 2024).
Health issues are becoming an influential factor in the instant noodle industry;
this is a turning point, opening an opportunity to gain market share. Instant noodles
have very high sodium content, and, according to The New England Journal of
Medicine, 99.2% of the adult population exceeds the sodium intake recommended by
the World Health Organization (WHO). The US Institute of Medicine (IOM) has
already recommended mandatory national standards for food sodium content, with
additional voluntary reductions from companies (Chen, Y., & Zhen, C., 2022). There
are health-related issues that will change how instant noodles are produced, but there
are also healthier trends that are positive for the industry. There was a study,
conducted by AgCon Search (Research in Agricultural and applied economics), in
Indonesia, the second-highest instant noodle market in Asia, where people were asked
what they prefer between organic and sustainable instant noodles or regular noodles;
Consumer preference for organic instant noodles is 2.2 times higher than traditional
instant noodles. Organic labels and packaging materials rank highly among
consumers, alongside health attributes (Toiba, H., Noor, A. Y. M., Rahman, M. S.,
Hartono, R., Asmara, R., and Retnoningsig, D., 2023). The study also shows that 80%
of respondents are willing to pay more for organic instant noodles than for regular
ones. Overall, the industry’s change is shaped by mandatory health-related regulations
and by voluntary consumer trends seeking healthier instant noodle alternatives.
Combined with all of that, Instant Noodles are a highly consumed type of
Convenience Food. In the United States, 44% of people consume instant noodles
every month (more than once a month). Around 14% say they consume it weekly,
17% several times a week, and 6% daily or almost every day (Appinio Research,
2023). With that in mind, an instant noodle alternative is urgently needed in the
market.
Currently, the top five instant noodle companies — Nissin Foods, Nongshim
Co., Samyang Foods, Ajinomoto Co., and Toyo Suisan — hold a combined 53%
market share. “In this modern era, Americans are seeking convenience in their daily
routine and looking for easy-to-cook products. Thus, to stay ahead of the competition
and diversify their product offerings, key players are concentrating on introducing
new products in the market (Fortune Business Insights, 2025). The market share is at
a turning point, where healthier trends will play a fundamental role, making this the
opportunity to enter the market with a new proposal ahead of market trends to become
a top competitor. The industry's competition also shows that introducing new products
is a priority for key players, supporting the context of healthier trends.
Marketing Strategy
According to recent survey results, the target consumers for instant noodles are
primarily members of Generation Z (ages 10–25), with approximately 95.1% of
respondents identifying this group as the most likely to prefer instant noodles.
Millennials (ages 26–41) follow with 38.2%, while Generation X (ages 42–57) and
the Baby Boomer generation (ages 58–67) show significantly lower proportions,
accounting for only 5.9% and 1%, respectively. These findings are consistent with
previous studies indicating that younger generations tend to have a higher demand for
ready-to-eat products (Smith & Tan, 2023).
The main reason for this trend is that Generation Z places greater emphasis on
convenience, efficiency, and affordability. According to Lee (2024), Gen Z
consumers generally prefer quick and time-saving meal solutions to accommodate
their busy lifestyles. They often perceive cooking as an unnecessary time cost and
therefore tend to choose instant noodles as an efficient and satisfying meal option. In
contrast, the consumption patterns of Millennials and Generation X are more closely
related to living arrangements and lifestyle habits. For instance, the increase in single-
person households has made instant foods a practical everyday choice (Johnson,
2022). However, many families within these generations still prefer home-cooked
meals, which contributes to their lower consumption compared to Gen Z. Lastly, the
Baby Boomer generation demonstrates the lowest acceptance of instant noodles. Their
consumption behavior is likely influenced by family interactions, such as sharing the
product with children or grandchildren (Kwon & Park, 2021). That is why Noodle
Nation will focus on Generation Z as consumers —current students and young
professionals. Since they do not have time to cook and still want to maintain a healthy
diet, they will come to Noodle Nation.
Noodle Nation(NN) will sell products in both our online shop and grocery
stores. When people are restocking their instant food supplies, they will notice our
product and compare it with current instant noodle brands. According to research
done at the Czech University of Life Sciences, more than 80% of consumers are
willing to pay more for a healthier instant food. (Toiba et al., 2023) Therefore,
through direct comparison, customers will spot that NN instant noodles have more
protein, less sodium, and the lowest fat percentage in the market; they will most likely
give our brand a try. In the NN online shop, customers can create their own flavors,
such as spicy broth with dried scallops or chicken broth with tomatoes. They can
choose from 3 types of broth and more than 10 types of ingredients, with
customization features, customers can experience Noodle Nation like no other.
When it comes to promotions, NN will focus on short-form video platforms
such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. NN aims to build a platform
that not only advertises products but also creates an environment for customers to
engage with Noodle Nation. We will develop hashtags and challenges, and
collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to create a trend that increases
engagement. According to research conducted in 2023 by Hebei University of
Technology, user engagement directly affects sales on short video platforms(Xiao et
al., 2023), so measuring our engagement is critical. Noodle Nation will measure
performance from multiple perspectives. First, NN will analyze engagement metrics
on short-form video platforms—such as likes, comments, click-through rates, and
follower growth—to understand audience reach and participation, and to identify
which campaigns drive measurable changes. Second, NN will track brand keyword
search volume and the growth rate of followers on official accounts during the
campaign period to assess the level and speed of brand awareness improvement.
Finally, NN will compare sales data and website traffic before and after the campaign
to determine whether our marketing efforts have generated a tangible impact on
purchasing behavior.
Website Design Strategy
For the website design, NoodleNation used as much data from the research
data as possible to align the design perfectly with their target customers.
NoodleNation also chose “Wix” to create the website.
In general, NoodleNation sought to combine freshness, minimalism, and
interactivity to create a strong, modern food brand identity. The layout is colorful and
basic, with a bit of text and many images to catch customers' attention as early as
possible. The website uses a fresh, modern color scheme, with Asian Pear (bright
green) as the dominant background color, immediately conveying a sense of
freshness, naturalness, and energy. Orange accents (Camellia), for example, on
buttons, shopping carts, or “order” areas, to directly draw the eye to essential
interactions while conveying warmth and appetite. The dark blue (Pageant Blue) color
was chosen to anchor the palette and give it contrast for text and the interface
structure. This combination creates a clean yet lively contrast — balancing freshness
with sophistication and attracting a younger audience. The typography complements
this tone with clear, modern sans fonts that balance playful branding with
professionalism. Rounded edges and subtle shadows in design elements create a
friendly, approachable interface without overwhelming the user.
The brand message is clearly communicated: customization, quality, and
global inspiration. This can be seen right at the top of the homepage, where customers
immediately know the slogan “Your pick, our flavor. Crafted just for you.” Whenever
possible, NoodleNation tried to address customers directly (“crafted for you”) or to
refer to itself as Noodle Nation (“our creations”) to reach its target audience in the
best possible way. Another goal here is to create a sense of belonging, reflected in the
call to action (“join the noodle nation”) and in the fact that NoodleNation is sharing
its personal story of founding the company on the website. A more accessible and
motivating tone was also chosen. Key messages are conveyed clearly in just a few
words, with a recurring focus on quality, internationality, and individualization.
Navigation through the content is straightforward, with four major sections
(Homepage, How it works, Shop, and About us) labeled in the header. Allows
customers to effortlessly navigate the web when searching for something specific.
However, if customers want the whole customer experience, they can just scroll to the
homepage, where the NoodleNation concept is summarized. There, the customer can
click any image or part he finds interesting, which takes him to the designated section.
The slideshow on how to customize your noodles, along with the reference to the
shop afterward, is an element that piques customers' curiosity about customization
and quickly persuades them to make a purchase. Last but not least are „call to action“
areas that are consistent and visually prioritized, while sections like customer reviews
and preparation videos help to reduce buyer hesitation.
To optimize search results, Noodle Nation added the Meta Title of “Noodle
Nation/Build Your Bowl” and other labels to make sure their shop’s website will be
on the very first page of search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing. To help
consumers have a better understanding before they visit the page, Noodle Nation had
a description of “Noodle Nation: Discover a new generation of instant noodles —
customizable, high-protein, and beautifully designed. Choose your broth, toppings,
and experience convenience with creativity.” Besides, Noodle Nation also used
keywords such as Instant Noodles, Healthy Ramen, customizable noodles, and protein
noodles to ensure its website stays relevant in search results.
Reflection and Metrics
With Noodle Nation’s business plan focusing on reaching a young, active
customer base and offering healthy meals with original flavors, it aims to position
itself as a unique market player compared to current instant noodle brands. Also, by
creating a brand identity that differentiates itself from the competition (by choosing
fresher, “younger” colors), the company expects to make a closer, more emotionally
positive connection with customers. With all of that, Noodle Nation strives to create a
new market shelf of healthy instant noodles, distinct from the high-sodium, unhealthy
options available today.
To track the company’s growth and online success, Noodle Nation plans to
produce monthly reports using a combination of data sets. The comments sentiment
analysis will be the first one. By routinely checking how communities perceive the
company, it is possible to address issues better and generate new ideas. The second
variable analyzed will be the conversion rate, measuring the rate at which first-time
clients purchase after first contacting the brand. Lastly, hashtag participation analysis
will provide the reach of new campaigns and messages.
