Assignment Problems
Q1. A power station supplies the following loads during a day:

Time Duration (hours) Load (MW)

6 80
8 60
5 40
5 20

Tasks:

(a) Draw the load duration curve.

(b) Calculate the average load on the station.
(c) Determine the load factor.
(d) Comment on the nature of the load profile.

Q2. A thermal power plant has an installed capacity of 120 MW. The plant operates at an average
load of 75 MW throughout the year.
Tasks:

(a) Calculate the annual energy generated by the plant.

(b) Determine the capacity factor.
(c) Calculate the reserve capacity of the plant.
