Discussion:
In this experiment, the behavior of series and parallel RLC
circuits was analyzed at different frequencies in order to
observe resonance and understand the concept of power factor
correction. In a series RLC circuit, resonance results in minimum
impedance and hence maximum current. On the other hand, in
a parallel RLC circuit, resonance leads to maximum impedance
and minimum current.
Additionally, the method of improving the power factor by
connecting a capacitor in parallel was studied. As the
experiment was conducted carefully with proper precautions
and maintained good accuracy, the results obtained were
satisfactory, indicating that the experiment was successful.
