PEB Load Combinations Simple Notes
PEB Load Combinations Simple Notes
Loads in PEB:
DL – Dead Load (self weight)
LL – Live Load (maintenance)
WL – Wind Load
CL – Crane Load
EL – Earthquake Load
3. Leading Load
Load causing maximum effect (moment/shear). Taken with FULL factor.
Example: Wind during storm, Crane during lifting.
4. Accompanying Load
Load that comes with leading load but taken REDUCED.
Reason: Full loads rarely occur together.
Golden Rule:
ONE load is FULL (leading), others are REDUCED (accompanying).
Crane Building:
Crane leading: 1.5 DL + 1.5 CL + 1.05 LL
Live leading: 1.5 DL + 1.5 LL + 1.05 CL
Wind + Live:
1.5 DL + 1.5 WL + 0.53 LL
6. Serviceability (Deflection)
DL + LL
DL + WL
(Factors = 1.0)
Memory Tip:
DL always present
Wind & Earthquake never together
Crane rarely with full live load
