then, is 0.845 bar. What is the molar mass of the solid substance?
h. Calculate the mole fraction of benzene in solution containing 30%

CO2 pressure at 298 K.

d. The vapour pressure of pure liquids A and B are 450 and 700 mm Hg
respectively, at 350 K . Find out the composition of the liquid mixture if total
vapour pressure is 600 mm Hg. Also nd the composition of the vapour phase.
e. 45 g of ethylene glycol (C2H6O2) is mixed with 600 g of water. Calculate
(a) the freezing point depression and (b) the freezing point of the solution.
f. A 1.00 molal aqueous solution of trichloroacetic acid is heated to it’s boiling point .The solution has
the boiling point of 100.18 0C. Determine the van’t Hoff factor for trichloroacetic acid. (Kb for water= 0.512K

g. A gaseous mixture of two substances A and B under a total pressure of 0.8 atm is in equilibrium with
an ideal liquid solution. If the mole fraction of substance A is 0.5 in the vapour phase and 0.2 in the
liquid phase then calculate the paper pressure of pure liquid A.
h. Name a process for desalination of sea water.
At the same temperature carbon dioxide, gas is more soluble in water than oxygen gas. Which one of
them have higher value of KH.
Determine the osmotic pressure of a solution prepared by dissolving 25 mg of K2SO4 in 2 litre of water
at 25°C, assuming that it is completely dissociated.
