INTRODUCTION

Recycling is taking things or objects that have been used, such as aluminum,

carton milk, or plastic, instead of throwing them in the trash. It is important for people

because they can reuse the different materials in a positive way. The importance of the

process of converting waste materials is incredible because it creates new energy for the

planet.

On the other hand, it helps people think about the future because we should be

aware of the things we consume every day for that and any other reason we have to

avoid pollution in the air, water, soil, radiation, and noise. At the same time, it is

necessary to learn that recycling means that instead of throwing a plastic bottle into the

trash, we can make it into a new bottle.

The benefits of recycling protect everybody because it conserves natural

resources, reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators, saves energy,

helps sustain the environment for future generations, reduces greenhouse gases, and

does other things.

Additionaly, if we make the difference about recycling, it is possible to have a

long life because we offer the public the chance to see the reality and learn about

picking up and processing the recyclables placed in different parts of the country, such

as schools, supermarkets, homes, and other places.

Finally, in this essay, it is prepared to have an idea that concludes how people

have different perspectives on the topic, on which a chemistry teacher gives his personal

opinion. The interview is taking place during free time inside an elementary school.

Interview to Mister Hurtado

Why is it important to recycle?

Mister Hurtado: It is important to recycle because

it helps the environment and keeps the bioelements that

contribute to a good recycling project. I mean, people can

be more generous with others; in other words, we can make

a difference. For example, we can reuse plastic bottles and

save water when it rains.

Does recycling impact the environment?

Mister Hurtado: Certanily, it does; recycling

aims to increase the understanding of the economic

implications. It generates jobs, wages, and government

tax revenue. Also, contribute to environmental

protection agencies; that means animals and resources.

Do you know any types of recycling?

Mister Hurtado: Yes, eventually there will be plastic recycling, waste paper and

cardboard recycling, metal recycling, WEEE recycling, wood recycling, glass recycling,

textile recycling, and brick and inert waste recycling.

Why is recycling necessary?

Mister Hurtado: It conserves energy, reduces

greenhouse gases, reduces water and air pollution, and

conserves natural resources. Also, less disruption to the

natural world reduces carbon emissions, reduces the

need to harvest new materials, and brings people

together.

How can we avoid pollution?

Mister Hurtado: There are lots of ways to avoid pollution, for example:

 Instead of taking the bus, we can ride a bike.

WRAP UP

In conclusion, the interview and the research on the topic show that humans

must take care of the environment because if we do nothing, it is possible that in a few

years the world can change in a negative way. However, it incites us to become aware

of everything we do, for example, littering in the street, pollution of water, etc.

On the other hand, the answers of the teacher are a clear reference that it is

possible to have a better development in society. Nevertheless, taking the initiative is a

good idea because, by doing so, everybody can begin to prepare for a new and better

chance to live for more years.

Additionaly, thorough research can help avoid disasters in the world such as

earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and others. To raise awareness, people should follow

the steps below:

Learn to separate trash.

Turn off the lights when it is necessary.

Things such as a TV, cellphone, and computer must be unplugged at night.

Protect and preserve green areas in cities through local awareness or

reforestation campaigns.

Use biodegradable products.
