2. MAINTAIN CONTROLLING AREA:
Explanation In SAP, Controlling area is an organizational element which
is responsible for management of costs and profits. The
relation between controlling area to company code is one
to many relationship, so one or many company codes can
be linked to a single controlling area. All the companies
within one controlling area should use same chart of
accounts (COA) and fiscal year variant (FSV)

> Definition > Controlling > Maintain Controlling area
T-Code OKKP
By using T-Code “OKKP”, directly go to main screen
Or follow the path given below
Click on “Maintain Controlling Area”.
And click on “New Entries”.
Fill in the required fields mention below
After you fill in the data click on SAVE
3. ASSIGN CONTROLLING AREA TO COMPANY CODE:
Path SPRO -> SAP Reference IMG -> Enterprise Structure >
Assignment > Controlling > Assign Controlling Area to
Company Code
T-Code OX19
By using T-Code “OX19” you can directly go to main screen
Or else follow the path given below & Click on “Assign Company
Code to Controlling Area”
Select your company and click on “Assignment of Company
Codes”
Enter the Company code and then Save
4. DEFINE NUMBER RANGE INTERVALS FOR CONTROLLING
DOCUMENT:
Path SPRO –> IMG –> Controlling -> General Controlling ->
Organization -> Maintain number ranges for
controlling documents.
T-Code KANK
By using the T-Code “KANK”, you can directly go to main Screen
Or follow the path given and click on “Maintain number ranges for controlling
documents”
Enter your Company Code in CO Area and click on Intervals
Or Copy the Number range from standard format & click on check Mark.
Now you get a message as CO Area 0001 to ZARA.
You can check the copied number ranges for controlling documents by entering the CO
area “ZARA” and click on display intervals option.
The following number ranges for controlling document are copied to SAP controlling
area ZARA in the SAP System
Successfully we have created number ranges for SAP controlling
documents.
5. MAINTAIN VERSIONS:
Path SPRO –> IMG –> Controlling -> General Controlling ->
Organization -> Maintain number ranges for
controlling documents.
T-Code OKEQ
You can use T-Code “OKEQ”, and directly go to main screen.
Or else follow the path given below
Choose Version “0” and double click on option “Controlling area settings”
which is available under dialog structure menu.
On determine work area entry screen, update the controlling area key
“ZARA” in the work area field and press enter.
Choose version “0” and click on the option “Settings for each Fiscal Year”
By default, it copies versions for 5 years, double click on the year “2023”
for the required data. And click on “NEW ENTRIES”
Then fill in the details given below under Planning
Then click on Price Calculation and fill in the required details.
After updating all the required details, click on save button and save the
configured details. Successfully we have maintained versions in SAP CO.

1. CREATE COST CENTER GROUP:
Before you create cost centres, you need to assign standard hierarchy
in controlling area using transaction code OKKP or you will get an error
as Controlling area ZARA does not have a standard hierarchy (please
assign one).
Explanation Cost center in SAP is a location where the costs are occurred
inside the organization. In SAP cost center is the lowest
organizational unit in controlling enterprise structure. Cost
centers are responsibility areas for costs within organization and
used to capture actual costs of an organization. Costs can can be
captured as per department wise, product wise, area wise,
responsibility person wise, etc. Assigning the costs to cost
centers determines where the costs are incurred within the
organization. Each cost center in SAP can belong to one or more
cost center groups.
Path Accounting > Controlling > Cost Center Accounting > Master
Data > Cost Center Group > Create
T-Code KSH1
Step 1: – Enter Transaction code KSH1 in the SAP command field and
press enter
Or follow the path given below
Step 2: – In the create cost center group initial screen,
enter the cost center group code and press enter.
Step 3:– Enter the name of the cost center group
Select the insert cost center tab and insert the cost
centers into the group
2. CREATE COST CENTER:
Path Accounting > Controlling > Cost center
accounting > Master data > Cost center >
Individual processing > Create.
T-Code KS01
Step 1:- Enter transaction code KS01 and press enter
Step 2: – Update the following data
Cost Center: – Enter the cost center key
Valid from: – Update the valid period of the cost center
from period to period.
Step 3: – In the next screen update, the following required data.
Name: – Give the name of the cost center
Description :- Update the description of cost center
The person responsible: – Enter the user id of responsible
Cost center category: – select the appropriate cost center
category from the list.
Hierarchy area:– Enter the hierarchy area code
Business area: – Enter the business area code
Currency: – Update the currency key
Select the save button to save the configured data. You have
created a new cost center. You can check in KSH1 to see your
cost center
3. CREATE PRIMARY COST ELEMENT:
Path SAP Menu > Accounting > Controlling
> Cost Element Accounting > Master
Data > Cost Element > Individual
Processing > Edit Cost Element
T-Code KA01
Enter T Code KA01 in the sap command field and press enter
Select the G/L account and check G/L account type. It should be
“Primary Cost and Revenue”
4. CREATE COST ELEMENT GROUP:
Path Accounting > Controlling > Cost Center Accounting >
Master Data > Cost Element Group > Create
T-Code KAH1
Step 1 : – Enter T-Code KAH1 in the SAP command field and press enter
Or follow the path given below
Enter your controlling area and press enter
ZARA
Step 2: – On the Create Cost Element Group Structure screen, update
the necessary data
Cost element group: – Give the cost element group and enter
Enter the cost element group description” Production cost
element for ZARA″
Select insert cost element and update the cost elements
Choose the save icon messages will be displayed as ” the
changes have been saved”. Successfully you have created the
cost Element groups.
5. CREATE SECONDARY COST ELEMENT:
Secondary cost elements in SAP are posted exclusively in CO and are not
contained in the FI General Ledger. Secondary cost elements are factory
Overheads, Administration Overhead, Power, Diesel Oil, gas, etc.
The cost element categories used are Internal settlements (category 43),
order/project analysis (category 31), Overhead Rates (category 41),
Assessments (category 42), Overhead Rates (category 41) Internal
activity allocation (category 43), project-related incoming orders sales
(Category 50)

Mater data > Cost element > Individual processing >
Create secondary
T-Code KA06
We need to go to OBD4 to create Secondary Cost Element account group
Step 1:- Enter Transaction Code KA06 and press enter
Click on New Entry. Enter G/L account No for Secondary Cost
Element (90000)
Step 3 : – In the next screen update the following data
Name:– Enter the name of the cost element
Description:– Enter the description of the cost element
CElem category: – Select item category for the cost
elements. It mainly controls the category of cost elements
Click on the save icon or press keys ctrl+s to save the configured
secondary cost elements in the SAP system.
6. Activate Cost Center Accounting:
Path SPRO >> IMG >> Controlling >> Cost center
accounting >> Activate cost center accounting
in controlling area.
T-Code OKKP
Use the T-Code OKKP to go the main screen
Follow the path given in the screen below
On change view basic data overview screen, click on position button and enter
controlling area key “ZARA” so that our SAP controlling key displays on top of
the window.
ZARA
Choose control area “ZARA” and double click on activate components/
control indicators for activation of cost center accounting.
On change view “Activate components/control indicators”: overview screen, click on
New Entries button. On new entries screen, update the following details.
Fiscal Year : – Enter the fiscal year.
Choose cost centers as component active.
Check the option AA : Activity type
After maintaining all the required details, click on save button and choose the
customizing request and save the data.
Successfully we have activated cost center accounting in SAP controlling are
7. Define Cost Center Categories:
Path Controlling > Cost Center Accounting >
Master Data > Cost centers > Define cost
center categories.
T-Code OKA2
By using T-Code OKA2 you can directly go to the main screen seen below.
Or follow the path given below
Step 1: On change view cost center category overview screen, list of cost
center categories displays with detailed information. You can use this
category as per your requirements or if you want to create new cost center
category as per business requirements, click on new entries button as
shown below.
On new entries screen, update the following details.
CCtC : – Enter a key that identifies the name of cost center category in SAP.
Check the required parameters as per client requirements.
Click on save button and than choose the customizing request and save the
configured details.
Successfully we have created new cost center categories in SAP system.
8. Define Cost Center Standard Hierarchy:
Path SPRO > IMG > Controlling > Cost Center
Accounting > Master Data > Cost Center >
Define Standard Hierarchy.
T-Code OKEON
In SAP systems, Before you define standard hierarchy using transaction
code OKEON, maintain CCtr Standard hierarchy in controlling area
using OKKP.
A window opens for checking the standard hierarchy in SAP, click on yes
button and save the data.
And save the data.
Step 1 : – Enter SAP TCode “OKEON” in the SAP commend field and press
enter key from keyboard.
Step 2 : – If you not maintain standard hierarchy in controlling area, you will
get an error message as “no standard hierarchy is created for “ZARA”. On
standard hierarchy for cost center changes screen, update the name of
standard hierarchy key.
You can add new hierarchy nodes either by lower level group, group at
same level or cost center by choosing the standard hierarchy key.
Based on the requirements, you should develop standard cost center
hierarchy for controlling area in SAP.
