Warm-up / Activating “Spin and Act” (Speaking & Vocabulary Activation)
Learners explore an interactive spinner that randomly displays
different action verbs. After a student is selected, the student must
act the verb out without talking while the other students guess the
Prior Knowledge action in English. This task activates prior knowledge, creates an
enjoyable environment, and encourages students to recall verbs,
both orally and associated with action and idea verbs.

“Watch and Discover” (Listening & Grammar Awareness)
Learners view a brief educational video that shows multiple action
verbs in day-to-day activities. After watching the video, the

Students utilize a collaborative online padlet to each write an
original sentence, inclusive of a verb phrase. Once each of their

Formative Assessment Throughout the lesson, formative assessment will be conducted on
an ongoing basis, by keeping track of students' involvement with
their oral and written output, as well as their participation in the
activities put forth. The teacher will make on-the-spot corrections,
give individualized feedback as needed, and will also correct and
reinforce acceptable deployments of verbs and phrases. Feedback
/ Evidence of Learning will be provided to the class as a whole which will describe overall
areas of strength and areas of improvement. In addition to general
feedback, students will be invited to offer their own insights and
perspectives of the lesson plan itself, as a joint exercise in
contemplation and evaluation of the learning process they
experienced.
