Bernoulli's Formula
1. Show that if n is a positive integer
∫₀²π [cos((n−1)x) · cos(nx)] / (1 − cos(x)) dx = 2π
2. Show that
∫ dx / [sin(x−a) · sin(x−b)] = (1 / sin(a−b)) · log[sin(x−a) / sin(x−b)]
Multiple Integral
3. By changing into polar coordinates, evaluate the integral
∬ [xy(x² + y²)² / (x² + y²)] dx dy
taken over the sector in the first quadrant bounded by the straight
lines y = 0, y = x and the circle x² + y² = 1
Physical Applications of Integration
4. Find the centroid of the area bounded by the cardioid r = a(1 +
cosθ)
Geometrical Application of Integration
5. Find the area of the curved surface obtained by revolving about the
x-axis the arc of the ellipse x²/a² + y²/b² = 1
Beta and Gamma Function
6. Show that
∫₀^{π/2} √(sinθ) dθ · ∫₀^{π/2} [1 / √(sinθ)] dθ = π
