DevOPs Assignment 5

The document outlines three cloud computing service models: IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. IaaS offers virtualized computing resources with maximum user control, PaaS provides a platform for application development with less infrastructure management, and SaaS delivers ready-to-use software with minimal user management. Each model has distinct use cases and examples from AWS services, highlighting their differences in user control, management, and ease of use.

Cloud Computing Service Models – IaaS, PaaS,

SaaS
TASK 1

1. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

IaaS provides virtualized computing resources such as servers, storage, and networking over the
internet. Users have full control over the operating system, applications, and data, while the cloud
provider manages the physical infrastructure.

AWS Services Examples:

• Amazon EC2 – Virtual servers for running applications.
• Amazon EBS – Block storage for EC2 instances.
• Amazon S3 – Object storage for files and backups.

Uses:
• Hosting websites and web applications.
• Running custom enterprise software.
• Testing and development environments.

2. Platform as a Service (PaaS)

PaaS provides a platform that allows developers to build, test, and deploy applications without
managing the underlying infrastructure. The cloud provider manages servers, storage, networking,
and operating systems.

AWS Services Examples:

• AWS Elastic Beanstalk – Automatic deployment and scaling of applications.
• AWS Lambda – Serverless computing for running code.
• Amazon RDS – Managed relational databases.

Uses:
• Developing web and mobile applications.
• Rapid application development.
• Microservices and API-based applications.

3. Software as a Service (SaaS)

SaaS delivers fully functional software applications over the internet. Users can access the software
through a browser or app without worrying about installation, maintenance, or infrastructure
management.

AWS Services Examples:

• Amazon WorkMail – Business email and calendar service.
• Amazon Chime – Online meetings and communication.
• Amazon QuickSight – Business analytics and visualization.

Uses:
• Email and collaboration.
• Business analytics and reporting.
• Customer relationship management tools.

Comparison Summary
• IaaS: Maximum control, requires technical knowledge.
• PaaS: Focus on development, less infrastructure management.
• SaaS: Ready-to-use software, no technical management.
