Chemistry and Section C is Physics.

surroundings have plenty of mango orchards, apple orchards, and coriander fields to provide nectar
and pollen. The farmer wants high yield but is worried about the bees stinging workers.

Atoms and molecules are the building block of the matter. An atom is the smallest unit of an
element that retains its chemical properties however a molecule is a group of two or more atoms
health together by chemical bonds. Atoms consist of positively charge nucleus having protons and
neutrons surrounded by electrons which revolve around the nucleus in discrete orbits.
Understanding the concept of an atoms and molecules is very important for comprehending various
chemical reaction and the composition of a compound.

0.34m. Calculate frequency, wavelength and wave velocity.

(b) If 2 echoes are heard after 2.5s and 4.25s, find the distance between obstacles if speed of
sound is 340 m/s. 5m
13. Ultrasounds can be used to detect cracks and flaws in metal blocks. Metallic components are
used in construction of big structures like buildings, bridges, machines and scientific equipment’s.
The cracks and holes inside the metal blocks, which are invisible from outside reduces the strength
of the structure. Ultrasound waves are allowed to pass through the metallic block and detectors are
used to detect the transmitted wave. If there is even a small defect, the ultrasound gets reflected
indicating the presence of flaw or defect.

(b) Define reflection of wave.
(c) How is speed of sound compared in solids and liquids?
(d) If detectors do not detect ultrasound, what does it indicate?
