Introduction of printer

A printer is an external hardware output device

that creates a physical copy of digital
information from a computer onto paper or
another medium. It translates electronic data
into a hard copy, allowing users to print
documents, images, and other content from
their computer. Common types include inkjet
and laser printers, and they can connect directly
to a computer via a USB cable or wirelessly
through a network.
What is a Printer?-Detailed Explanation
A printer is a hardware output device that takes data from a computer or
mobile device and prints it onto a physical medium (usually paper). This
printed copy is known as a hard copy, while the file in the computer is called a
soft copy.

How Does a Printer Work?

[Link] user gives a print command from a computer or device

[Link] data is sent to the printer through a wired (USB, LAN) or wireless (Wi-
Fi, Blue-tooth)connection.
[Link] printer processes the data using its internal memory and processor.
[Link] prints using ink, toner, heat, or impact mechanisms, derding on the printer
type.
Common Uses of Printers

[Link] academic reports, assignments, and

books
[Link] posters, charts, and images
[Link] photographs
[Link] receipts and invoices in businesses
Printing barcodes and product labels
[Link] designs and 3D objects (special
printers)
Important Features of a Printer Resolution

Measured in DPI (dots per inch) - higher DPI = clearer

print·

Speed: Measured in PPM (pages per minute)·

Ink/Toner System: Uses liquid ink or powdered toner·

Duplex Printing: Ability to print on both sides of paper·

Color or Black & White Printing·

Connectivity:USB,Wi-Fi,Bluetooth,ethernet etc.
Laser Printer Working:
[Link] creates an electrostatic image on a drum
2. Black toner sticks to the charged areas.
3. Paper passes through the drum, picking up toner.
[Link] fuses the toner onto the paper.

Inkjet Printer Working:

[Link] nozzles spray tiny droplets of black ink.
[Link] forms characters or images on the paper.
[Link] ink dries quickly.
Black and White Printers(Monochrome Printers)

A black and white printer, also called

monochrome printer, is a type of printer that
prints using only black ink or black toner.
These printers do not print in color. They are
mainly used for printing text
documents,forms,assignments,letters,
invoices, and other simple materials.
Advantages of Black and White Printers
[Link]-Effective:Toner cartridges last longer. Low cost per page (especially
laser printers)

[Link] Performance: Faster than color printers Suitable for printing many
pages daily.

[Link]-Lasting Toner: Toner doesn't dry out like ink. Can last months
even without printing.

[Link] for Text: sharp and clean text ideal for assignments, notes, office
documents.

[Link] Models Available: Easy to find budget-friendly options.

Disadvantages of Black and White Printers

[Link] Color Printing

.Cannot print:
·Photos.
·Color charts
·Posters
·Graphic
[Link] Models Are Big:
Laser printers can be bulky and heavy.

[Link] Models May Require:

Frequent Maintenance Ink can dry if unused for long periods.
Colored Printers

A colored printer is a type of printer

that can print documents, images,
and photos in multiple colures, not
just black and white. These printers
use special inks or toner powders to
create a wide range of colors' on
paper.
Advantages
·Produces colourful and attractive documents.

·Ideal for creative work.

·Useful for photo printing.

Disadvantages
·More expensive than black-and-white printers.

·Ink or toner is costlier.

·Maintenance can be higher.

Impact printers

It is a type of printer that works by direct

contact of an ink ribbon with paper. These
printers are typically loud but remain in use
today because of their unique ability to
function with multipart forms. An impact
printer has mechanisms resembling those of a
type writer. Example of Impact Printers, Dot-
matrix printers, Daisy-wheel printers, and line
printers.
Advantages of Impact Printers

·Durability:
Impact printers offer durability and long ago; this kind
of printer works efficiently for largescale jobs.

·Cost-Effective:
They are more often cheaper to run, particularly
where many copies of the same document are to be produced.

·Multi-part Forms:
They can print on multi-part forms they are
ideal for use in a place where use of carbon copies is essential.
Disadvantages of Impact Printers

·Noise:
These printers are usually loud doing to the
physical strikes of the printer.
·Limited Print Quality:
Non-impact printers are
comparatively poor in quality as far as the quality of
printed concerned and thus is not much suitable for
getting high quality images or graphics printed.
· Speed:
As much as impact printers are
widespread, they are relatively slow when compared to
non-impact printers
Non-Impact Printers

It is a type of printer that does not hater impact a

ribbon to print. They used laser, xerographic,
electrostatic, chemical and inkjet technologies.
On-impact printers are generally much quieter.
They are less likely to need maintenance or
repairs than earlier impact printers.
Example of Non- lmpact Printers is Inkjet
printers and Laser printers.
Advantages of Non-Impact Printers
·Quiet Operation:
Non-Impact printers have low noise
producing capability; thus they can be used where noise is
prohibited.
·High-Quality Output:
These printers are also capable of
printing with a very fine and clear 6/11 detail or image and
clear text or photo which is suitable for professional use or
photos.
·Faster Printing:
Non-impact printers are normally faster in
the way they output their print especially for laser printers.
Disadvantages of Non-Impact Printers

·Higher Cost:
There is a possibility for non impact
printers and their components; ink or toner to be
costly as compared to impact printers.
·Sensitive to Media:
Some of then on-impact printers
are very sensitive to the type of paper used and
hence may not produce good prints as well as
being less reliable.
