Introduction
This project presents the analysis and design of a reinforced concrete
(RC) building, developed as part of the CE 410 Concrete Structures
Design Sessional. The proposed structure is a G+M+8 storied
residential-commercial building, designed in accordance with the
Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) 2020 and ACI 318 standards.
The building is subjected to standard dead loads, live loads, seismic
forces, and wind pressures, ensuring compliance with both
serviceability and strength requirements.
The structural system includes pile foundations, RC columns, beams,
slabs, and staircases, with material properties carefully selected to meet
durability and performance criteria. The design process incorporates
advanced modeling using ETABS software, enabling precise simulation
of load combinations and structural behavior. The building layout
features essential amenities such as lift shafts, staircases, waiting areas,
caretaker rooms, and utility spaces, reflecting a thoughtful integration
of functionality and safety.
This report outlines the complete design methodology, material
specifications, load considerations, and detailed structural drawings,
culminating in a comprehensive evaluation of the building’s
performance under various loading scenarios.
