The box should contain:
One DTS/DTSS Development Board
One DTS or DTSS CDMA Modem
One Standard RS-232 Serial Cable
One Power Adaptor
One Microphone/Headset
One Antenna
One Application/Manual CD

Attach the CDMA modem to the Development Board. Also, connect the antenna
wire from the Development Board to the CDMA modem.

Attach the free end of the RS-232 Cable to a free Serial Port on the host
PC.

Verify that the following LEDs (D8, D12, D14) are on. If the LEDs do not
illuminate, please check the RS-232 Serial Cable from the Computer to the
Development Board. If problems persist, please contact AnyDATA technical
support.

Attach the Microphone/Headphone if you are planning to use any Voice
applications. Insert the Microphone/Headphone jack into the DTSS
connector if you have a DTSS modem or into the DTS connector if you have
a DTS modem.

Move the power switch from the OFF position to the ON position. Wait
until the IDLE (D2) LED turns red.
NOTE: The IDLE LED will NOT turn red if it is in a no service area.

After all the connections are in place, the IDLE led and the PWR led
should both be on.
(NOTE: The IDLE LED will NOT turn red if it is in a no service area).

1. Verification
Launch the CPSTDM6v14 Application
Click the Setup option under File. (NOTE: The file is located on the
application CD shipped with the modem. It is named [Link],
where x and y are version numbers)

Select the COM port that the modem is connected to.
Select the DM/DATA Baud Rate based on the type of CDMA modem you
are using. If you are using a DTS/EM series modem, set the DM baud
rate to 38400 and the Data Baud Rate to 19200. If you are using a
DTSS/EMII series modem, set the DM baud rate to 115200 and the
Data Baud Rate to 115200.
Click OK to save the settings. NOTE: If the COM port you select is
in use, an error “COM port open fail” will popup.

Click the Telephone Icon (the AT command). This will establish a
connection to the modem.

After clicking the Telephone Icon, you should notice a time and date in
the upper right corner. Also notice that the globe in the upper right
corner is rotating. If the date is not present and/or the globe is not
spinning, that means the connection to the modem could not be established.
Verify that correct COM port was selected.

Click the Status Icon.
Ensure that all the information is filled in. If there are blank
entries, the connection could not be established. Check the COM
port and DM/DATA Baud rate settings.

(NOTE: Please cycle the power on the modem before continuing).
(For Windows 2000) Click the Start button and browse to Programs
Accessories Communications HyperTerminal

When HyperTerminal Launches, enter AnyDATA for the connection name and
click ok.

Select the Connect Using drop down menu. Change the value to the COM port
that the Development Board is connected to. Click OK.

Select the Bits Per Second drop down menu and change it to the
appropriate value:
115200 for the DTSS/EMII line
19200 for the DTS/EM line
Leave the Data Bits to 8, Parity to None, Stop bits to 1, and Flow
Control to hardware.
Click OK.

- Type in ate1 <Enter> (to enable echoing) and at <Enter>. You should
receive an OK from each command. If you do not see the text you typed or
do not receive an OK, ensure that you selected the correct baud rate and
the correct COM port. (NOTE: ate1 does not appear on the terminal window
because echoing was enabled after typing that command.)
- Please refer to the document named DOWNLOADING_WMIN to program the
modem MIN number (The manual is located on the Application CD). Once the
MIN number is programmed, please continue with this document.

Type in “AT+MIN?” to check the previous MIN value. Record this value if
necessary. Type in “AT+GSN” to retrieve the ESN value (in Hexadecimal
format). Record this value if necessary. The modem should now be able to
communicate with the mobile network if the following conditions are true.
The IDLE light on the modem is on
The ESN number returned by the AT+GSN command is a valid ESN
number
The MIN number programmed by the AT+WMIN command is the number
supplied by the service provider.
