PREFACE
The project report is an integral part of the Bachelor of Business
Administration (BBA) – 6th Semester (Finance Group) curriculum and is
aimed at providing practical exposure to students through internship-
based learning. This project has been undertaken as a partial fulfilment of
the requirements of the BBA programme.
The present project report is based on the internship completed at OM
INDUSTRIES, a organization, where the emphasis was on understanding
the practical aspects of finance and accounting functions within an
industrial environment. The project has been designed to bridge the gap
between theoretical concepts studied in the classroom and their practical
application in the organization.
Through this project, an attempt has been made to gain insights into the
working of the finance department, including areas such as basic
accounting practices, documentation, cost-related processes, inventory
management, and financial procedures followed in the organization. Due
to confidentiality policies of the organization, actual financial data has
not been disclosed, and assumed data has been used wherever necessary
strictly for academic purposes.
This project report is prepared in a systematic manner as per university
guidelines and is expected to serve as a learning experience that enhances
practical knowledge, analytical ability, and professional understanding of
finance-related activities in asetup.

UNIT – 1
INTRODUCTION OF THE STUDY
1.1 Introduction to the Study
Accounting is one of the most important functions of any business
organization. It helps in recording financial transactions and provides
useful financial information to management for proper planning, control,
and decision-making. In manufacturing organizations, accounting plays a
very important role because of large-scale production activities, inventory
handling, cost control, and legal compliance.
OM Industries is a manufacturing company engaged in the production of
fire appliances and fire safety equipment. The company performs
various activities such as purchase of raw materials, manufacturing of fire
appliances, quality checking, storage, sales, and distribution. All these
activities involve financial transactions that need to be recorded
accurately and systematically.
The Accounts Department of OM Industries is responsible for
maintaining proper financial records and ensuring financial discipline in
the organization. The department provides necessary financial
information to management for effective planning, budgeting, and
performance evaluation.
This study has been carried out as a part of the BBA internship
program. The main purpose of the study is to understand the accounting
practices followed at OM Industries and to study the role of the
Accounts Department in a fire appliance manufacturing organization.
The study also helps the student to gain practical knowledge of
accounting procedures and understand how theoretical concepts learned
in the classroom are applied in actual business situations.
