NARRATIVE REPORT
10th SLAC SESSION
Effective Assessment Design: Collaborating to Align and Improve Curriculum
March 4, 2025 | 3:30 PM
The 10th School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) Session, titled “Effective Assessment
Design: Collaborating to Align and Improve Curriculum,” was successfully conducted on March 4,
2025, at 3:30 PM. This session aimed to enhance the teaching strategies of educators by
strengthening their skills in designing effective assessments that align with the curriculum. The
event was attended by teachers and school officials dedicated to improving the quality of education
through meaningful collaboration and professional development. The program commenced with an
Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) of the National Anthem and a Prayer, setting a solemn and
respectful tone for the session. Following this, Dr. Joy M. Gonzales, the School Head, warmly
welcomed all participants and emphasized the significance of assessment in tracking student
progress and refining instructional strategies. Her opening remarks inspired educators to actively
participate in the discussions and apply their learnings in their respective classrooms. To formally
introduce the esteemed speakers for the session, Ms. Tessie A. Caguisa, a Grade 4 Teacher III,
delivered an engaging and insightful introduction, highlighting the expertise and experience of the
resource speakers.
The highlight of the session was the presentation by Ms. Marilyn L. Segubience, a Teacher
III from Barandal Elementary School. She delivered an in-depth discussion on the principles and
best practices of Effective Assessment Design, emphasizing how teachers can create meaningful
and student-centered assessments. The session was interactive, with participants actively engaging
in discussions and sharing insights on how to improve their assessment methods. As a token of
appreciation, Dr. Joy M. Gonzales, School Head, led the Awarding of Certificates to the resource
speaker and other key contributors to the success of the session. The certificates recognized their
invaluable efforts in imparting knowledge and promoting collaborative learning among educators.
To conclude the program, Ms. Irene V. Oruga, a Grade 4 Teacher III, delivered the Closing
Remarks. She expressed gratitude to the speaker, the organizing team, and all attendees for their

active participation. She also encouraged teachers to apply their learnings and work collectively to
ensure that assessments remain relevant, fair, and effective in measuring student learning.
The session was expertly facilitated by Ms. Gwendolyn P. Libago, Grade 4 Teacher III, as
the Master of Ceremony. Additionally, Ms. Rina B. Pamplona, Grade 6 Master Teacher I, was
responsible for Documentation and Narrative Reporting, ensuring that all key insights and
discussions were properly recorded. As part of the documentation, the attendance sheet and event
photos are attached to this report, capturing the meaningful engagement of the participants
throughout the session. Overall, the 10th SLAC Session was a productive and enlightening
experience for all educators in attendance. The session reinforced the importance of designing well-
structured assessments that align with the curriculum and provide valuable insights into student
learning. With the knowledge gained, teachers are now more equipped to refine their teaching
methods and contribute to the continuous improvement of the education system.
