RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter will provide the methods and procedures that will
be used in this study. Which will include the Research Design,
Research Locale, Respondents of the Study, Research Instrument,
Validity of Instrument, Data gathering Procedure, and Data Analysis.
Research design
This study will be using a phenomenological approach. This
design is selected because it allows the researcher to understand
the individuals Emotional, mental experiences as well as their
personal encounter with diet culture.
The purpose of this research design is to understand how
common dieting is among teenagers, how body dissatisfaction
affects their weight-control habits, and what sociocultural factors
like family, peers, and media shape their body image. It will also
look at how teens see their own nutritional status and how this
relates to their dieting behaviors. Through this approach, the
researcher aims to obtain data that will help describe, analyze, and
interpret the phenomenon diet culture being studied.
Research Locale
This study will be conducted at Alae National High School
located in Artajo Village Subdivision. This location is selected by the
researchers due to its importance in determining how grade 9 to 11

Students perceptions of body image and self-worth are affected by
influence of Diet Culture.
Respondents of the Study
The respondents for this study will range from 6-10
respondents of Grade 9 to 11 Students from Alae National High
School during the Academic Year 2025-2026. These Students will be
chosen because teenagers will be among the most vulnerable to the
influence of Diet Culture. During adolescences, individuals will
experience rapid physical, emotional, and societal changes. Which
will make them more exposed to societal pressures regarding body
image, appearance, and eating habits.
This study will be using purposive sampling to select the 6-10
respondents who were exposed to the influence of Diet Culture. This
approach will be ensured that the participants showed
characteristics related to the study Objectives, Allowing for a
detailed investigation of their perspectives and experiences

for this study. The researchers will be using or in-depth
interview with the participants. This procedure will allow the
gathered data from the respondents to be secured in a standardized
way. The interview guide will be used for the respondents to have an
open-ended questions developed by the researchers.

The researchers will be using a Structured Interview to
examine the respondents experience toward Diet Culture. By using
the structured interview. The researchers can ensure Procedural
Stability in the Data Collection process.
Validity of Instrument
There will be three experts who validate the instrument that
researcher will use. Their suggestion and comments will be used to
improve the clarity, relevance, and quality of the instrument. This
approach will help the researchers to ensure clearness of the
instrument that we will be using.

Data Gathering Procedure
The researcher will collect data through structured interviews
with selected participants. In this method, all participants will be
asked the same set of prepared questions to ensure consistency,
allowing the researcher to gather comparable information from each

respondent. The interviews will be conducted in a comfortable and
private setting, giving participants the opportunity to answer freely.
Responses will be recorded and carefully noted for accuracy, while
ensuring confidentiality and voluntary participation.
This method is appropriate for the study because it allows the
researcher to understand the students experiences, perceptions,
and behaviors regarding diet culture, which will later be analyzed to
identify patterns and common themes.

Data Analysis
The data gathered from the interviews were recorded through
audio recording and subjected through transcription. Since all
participants answered the same set of questions, the researchers
will organize the responses according to each interview item. The
answers will then be summarized, and compared to identify
common patterns, similarities, and differences among the

participants. The summarized results will be interpreted to
understand the influence of Diet Culture based on the participants
consistent responses. This ensures that the findings reflect clear and
organized insights drawn directly from the data.
