1. Write any four slogans to make aware the consumers?
1. “Jago Grahak Jago” – This slogan encourages consumers to be alert and aware while
purchasing goods and services so that they are not cheated.

2. “Check the label before you buy” – This slogan reminds consumers to check details like
price, expiry date, and quality marks before buying any product.

3. “Your right, your power – be a smart consumer” – This slogan highlights that knowing
consumer rights helps people protect themselves from exploitation.

4. “Ask for a bill, it is your right” – This slogan stresses the importance of demanding a bill
as proof of purchase to claim compensation if needed.

2. Write any four suggestions to make aware the consumers.

1. Educate consumers about their rights:


Consumers should be made aware of their basic rights such as the right to information, right
to safety, right to choose, and right to seek redressal so that they can protect themselves from
exploitation.

2. Encourage checking of labels and quality marks:


Consumers must be advised to check details like price, expiry date, ingredients, and quality
marks such as ISI, AGMARK, and Hallmark before purchasing products.

3. Promote the habit of taking bills and receipts:


Consumers should always demand and preserve bills and cash memos as proof of purchase,
which are essential for filing complaints in consumer courts.

4. Spread awareness through media and campaigns:


Government, schools, and voluntary organisations should use newspapers, television, social
media, and campaigns like “Jago Grahak Jago” to spread consumer awareness.

2-MARKS:
1. Prepare any two slogans to alert consumers.

• “Check quality, check price – your right as a consumer.”
2. Suppose you buy a bottle of honey and a biscuit packet which logo or mark will you have to
look for and why?

For honey, the AGMARK symbol should be checked, and for biscuits, the FSSAI(Food Safety and
Standards Authority of India) mark should be seen. These marks ensure quality, purity and safety of
the products.
3. How do consumer protection councils help the consumers?

Consumer protection councils create awareness among consumers about their rights and
responsibilities. They guide consumers to approach consumer courts and work to promote fair trade
practices.
4. What is the difference between Consumer Protection Council and Consumer Disputes
Redressal Commission?

Consumer Protection Councils promote awareness and advise consumers, whereas Consumer
Disputes Redressal Commissions provide legal remedies and settle disputes.
5. What should be the role of government to protect consumers?

The government should enforce consumer laws strictly, ensure quality standards, control unfair
trade practices and spread awareness among consumers.
6. For the following products/services discuss what safety rules should be observed by the
producer.

a) LPG Cylinder: Producers must ensure proper sealing, safety valves and provide instructions for
safe usage.
b) Cinema Theatre: Theatres should follow fire safety rules, provide emergency exits and avoid
overcrowding.
7. Your friend has been sold a medicine that has crossed its expiry date. What steps should she
take?

She should immediately return the medicine with the bill, complain to the drug inspector or file a
case in the consumer court. She can demand replacement, refund or compensation for health
damage.
8. When do we celebrate the National consumer’s Day? What is the importance of that date?
Ans: On 24th December, It was on this day that the Indian Parliament enacted the Consumer
Protection Act in 1986.
