Meaning – It is a pervasive function. It helps to identify how far the actual


performance deviates from the standards, analyzing those standard and taking
correction actions for the same

Importance –
Accomplishing organizational goals
Checking accuracy of standards
Making efficient use of resources
Increasing employee motivation
Creates atmosphere of order and discipline
Coordination in action

Limitation –
1) Difficult to define in quantitative terms
2) No control on external forces
3) Resistance from employees
4) Costly process
