Module 3 Activity: CPD Units and Activities (RA
10912)
Title: CPD Compliance Challenge
Duration: 45–60 minutes
Group Size: 3–5 members
Learning Outcomes:
• Identify required CPD units for different engineering professions.
• Classify CPD activities under Professional, Academic, or Self-Directed tracks.
• Compute total CPD units earned.
• Evaluate eligibility for PRC license renewal.
Case Scenario A
Engr. Miguel Santos is a Registered Mechanical Engineer whose license is due for renewal. Within
the last 3 years, he completed the following activities: • Attended 3 PRC-accredited seminars (8 CU
each) • Resource speaker for a 2-hour technical webinar • Published one article in a local
peer-reviewed journal • Participated in a 5-day study tour • Completed 6 months of in-service
training
1 How many CPD units are required for his profession?
2 Classify each activity according to CPD track.
3 Compute his total CPD units.
4 Is he qualified for renewal? Why or why not?
5 If not qualified, what additional CPD activity would you recommend?
Case Scenario B
Engr. Carla Reyes is a Registered Master Electrician applying for license renewal. She completed: •
Master’s Degree (within 5 years) • 2 Technical papers (5 CU each) • 10 hours consultancy work •
8-hour socio-civic activity using profession • Facilitated a 3-hour accredited training
1 How many CPD units are required for RME?
2 Which activities fall under Academic Track?
3 Compute her total CPD units.
4 Which activity gave her the highest credit?
5 Do you think CPD fairly rewards advanced studies? Explain.
Part 2: 3-Year CPD Plan Design
Each group will design a 3-Year CPD Plan for one engineering profession (Civil, Electrical,
Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering). Requirements: • Must meet required CPD units. • Include
at least one Professional Track activity. • Include at least one Self-Directed activity. • Include one
long-term professional development goal. Groups must justify how their plan supports competency
development, national growth, and ASEAN alignment.
Individual Reflection (5 minutes)
“Is CPD a professional obligation or a professional privilege? Explain in the context of RA 10912.”
