RIVISION TEST

CHAPTER – 6

“TISSUE”

1. CASE STUDY
Case Study 1: The importance of meristematic tissue
Meristematic tissue is the tissue in plants that is responsible for growth. It is made up
of cells that are constantly dividing and differentiating into new cells. Meristematic
tissue is found in the tips of roots and shoots, as well as in the areas where new leaves
and flowers are developing. One example of the importance of meristematic tissue is
in the case of a plant that has been damaged by frost. The meristematic tissue at the
tips of the roots and shoots is able to regenerate new cells, which allows the plant to
repair the damage and continue to grow. Another example of the importance of
meristematic tissue is in the case of a plant that is being propagated by cuttings. When
a cutting is taken from a plant, the meristematic tissue at the cut end is able to generate
new roots and shoots, which allows the cutting to grow into a new plant.
MCQs:
1. Which type of meristematic tissue is found in the tips of roots and shoots?
a) Apical meristem
b) Lateral meristem
c) Intercalary meristem
d) All of the above

a) Growth
b) Development
c) Propagation
d) All of the above
Ans. ____________________

Case Study 2: The role of muscle tissue in movement

Muscle tissue is the tissue in the body that is responsible for movement. It is made up
of cells that can contract and relax, which allows them to pull on bones and other
structures to cause movement. There are three types of muscle tissue: skeletal muscle,
smooth muscle, and cardiac muscle. Skeletal muscle is the type of muscle that we are
most familiar with. It is attached to bones and allows us to move our limbs and body.
Smooth muscle is found in the walls of internal organs, such as the stomach and
intestines. It helps to move food and other substances through these organs. Cardiac
muscle is found in the heart. It contracts rhythmically to pump blood throughout the
body. The case of a paralytic patient who is unable to walk illustrates the importance
of muscle tissue in movement. In this case, the muscle tissue in the patient's legs is
damaged or not working properly. This prevents the patient from being able to
contract their muscles and move their legs.
MCQs:
1. Which of the following are the three types of muscle tissue?
