CHAPTER - 3 METHODOLOGY
3.1 Description of software model used for project
The programming language used for the development of the project is JavaScript, and the Agile
Software Development model is adopted to ensure iterative and incremental progress. Unlike the rigid Waterfall model,
Agile allows for greater flexibility, enabling continuous improvement through frequent stakeholder feedback.
Agile Software Development Model:
1. Planning:
o Identify core features (e.g., templates, export options).
o Define user stories (e.g., "As a user, I want to customize my resume").
2. Sprints:
o Develop in small cycles (e.g., Sprint 1: User login, Sprint 2: Templates).
o Include design, development, testing, and feedback in each sprint.
3. Continuous Delivery:
o Deploy functional updates at the end of every sprint.
4. User Feedback:
o Collect feedback regularly to refine features (e.g., add AI suggestions).
The development of the Resume Builder project follows a systematic methodology to ensure an
organized and efficient workflow. The methodology is structured into distinct phases as follows:
1. Requirement Analysis
Identify user needs and project goals, such as real-time preview, template selection, and PDF export
functionality.
Define core features, including input forms, customization options, and responsiveness.
Understand technical constraints, such as browser compatibility and device responsiveness.
2. Design and Planning
Wireframing and Prototyping:
o Create wireframes for the input forms, templates, and preview sections.
o Design templates and the overall layout using tools like Figma or Adobe XD.
Technology Stack Selection:
o Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
o Libraries/Tools: jsPDF for PDF export, Google Fonts for typography, and icons for design.
3. Development
Frontend Development:
o Build the structure using HTML.
o Style the application with CSS, ensuring responsiveness through media queries and frameworks (if
any).
o Use JavaScript and TypeScript to add interactivity and ensure type safety.
Real-Time Preview Implementation:
o Utilize event listeners and DOM manipulation to dynamically update the preview as users input
data.
PDF Export Integration:
o Implement jsPDF to generate downloadable PDF resumes from the real-time preview.
4. Testing and Debugging
Functional Testing:
o Validate all input forms and ensure proper data rendering in the preview.
o Test template switching, PDF export, and customization options.
Compatibility Testing:
o Ensure the application works smoothly across different browsers and devices.
User Feedback:
o Gather feedback from potential users to identify areas of improvement.
5. Deployment
Deploy the application on hosting platforms like GitHub Pages, Netlify, or Vercel for user accessibility.
Ensure proper version control using Git.
