The maps illustrate the changes in the central library between 20 years ago
and now.
On the left side of the library, there have been several changes in the
[Link] particular, the enquiry desk at the bottom right-hand corner has
been removed and replaced with a café instead. Next to the café is an adult
fiction books room, which was the adult nonfiction books room 20 years ago,
some new technology called self-service machines were added alongside the
information desk. Similarly, the area previously allocated to children’s books
room has been converted into lecture room.
At the west side of the Central Liibrary, the reading room used for n was
turned into computer room. In addition, the original adult fiction books room
has been transformed into a space for reference books. Furthermore, the
dimension of the computer games room has been expanded, also sofas,
children’s fiction books and storytelling have been introduced. It is worth
noting that tables and chairs in the centre of the library have disappeared
entirely.
Overall, new design of Central Library has been modernised with new
technological facilities and leisure areas, while most of traditional reading
sectors have been replaced by more functional places.
