Objective of the Study

To measure the learning reached by students, the learning level reached by

students if we have a poor time management to access the effectiveness of the

educational institutions.

To determine the influence of time management of the students include

their perception of how they manage their time, they spend on less productive

task, their ability to finish task on time, the use of time management tools,

educational level, and the duration of study per day.

It leads to lower grades and increased stress, it can also limit students

flexibility in their schedule making them vulnerable in emergencies.

Theoritical Framework

The pickle jar theory of time management. The pickle jar theory will help

individual to visualize priorities as well as the amount and size of task that can be

done realistically (Kim 2010). It also talks of the approach that will make one

manage his time which will make him do well in his academic performance

(Okorie, 2014).

This theory was created by Jeremy Wright (2002). He uses the analogy of

an empty jar to think about how an individual make us of available fixed amount of

time on a daily basis. Those approach will make students better learn on how to

manage their time and use it appropriately in beneficial activities. Pickle jar theory

believes in scale of preference. It entails that making plans for all activities and

arranging them according to the most pressing ones can help them to get important

work done while still leaving time for the small things that makes life fun. The

theorist viewed that if students should plan and make thoughtful decision in the use

of their time schedule, they can get important works done while still leaving time

for other small activities.

REVIEW OF THE RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Local Literature

According to LPUB RESEARCH (2014) Students in general have very

busy and stressful lives due to attending classes, completing assignments and

studying for exams. In addition, they have their own daily routines and lifestyles

that are necessary for creating balance between academics and recreational

activities. However, finding time to do everything at once can be challenging. This

is where good time management skills come into practice.

As per on SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH (2021) For students to better manage

their curriculum and achieve learning objectives, time management behaviors or

skills are argued to improve the positive academic output. The aim of the study is

to find the impact of time management on the academic performance of students

among the diagnostic radiology technology students at Asian Institute Of Computer

Studies.

In addition, time management is vital and it might really influence person's

general execution and accomplishments. Be that as it may, these are connected by

how people deal with their opportunity to suit their everyday living or to make it

stream consistently with their schedules. Helpful settings and condition will

without a doubt elevate positive results to the understudies, other than having great

addresses given by their educators. In any case, students' opportunity management

can be considered as one of the angle that can move an understudy to be a decent

student. Linkedin (2019).

Foreign Literature

According to Karima Sayari, Revenio Jalagat, Van Dalluay (2017) Time

management is by all means important in all aspects of our lives. Whether in

individual capacities or in businesses and organizations, use and management of

time is equally important. As applied to educational setting, time is precious to

students, teachers, heads and the institution as a whole. These considerations have

given the researchers the idea to undertake their study regarding the relationship

between time management and students’ academic performance. The main

objective of this study is to examine the significant relationship between time

management variables and students’ academic performance. It basically used the

descriptive research design in carrying out the study and in selecting the

respondents, random sampling were undertaken to 100 students in Managerial and

Financial Sciences department of Al-Zahra College for Women with its three

specializations: Accounting, Finance, and Business Management departments. Data

were analyzed using statistical tools such as frequencies, percentages, weighted

mean, standard deviation, regression and correlation. Findings of the study revealed

that there is significant correlation of some demographic variables such as age of

the respondents and educational degree to students’ academic performance.

Moreover, time management variable specifically the prioritization significantly

correlates to students’ academic performance while other variables: procrastination

and socialization have no significant relationship to students’ academic

performance. Based on these findings, it is suggested that, students should observe

ASIAN INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER STUDIES

and undertake prioritization of their tasks and responsibilities to improve their

academic performance. Moreover, teachers should also integrate time management

concepts and applications in their classes. Trainings and seminars on time

management are also encouraged for the students.

Positive emotions nurture academic achievement when they are mediated

by self-regulated learning and motivation. Students who have interest and

acknowledges the value of education, tend to perform well and do their tasks as

guided by this mindset. While there are also some studies which reveal motivation

as insignificant mediator to academic success. There were findings that students

can perform well in their studies even with low motivation or lack of motivation

(Robbins et al., 2004; Basila, 2014). Lacorte, Añonuevo, Guan, Mendoza and

Pateña (2017) maintains that accurately prioritizing the work that matters most

daily is one of the greatest challenges for a clinician. They engage this challenged

by beginning in long procedure requirements that demand extensive time allotment

such as in prosthodontics, endodontic therapy, then short procedure requirements

such as oral prophylaxis, restorations and extractions.

According to McCoach and Flake (2018), motivation is considered as an

important component for success in school because it serves as the fuel to ignite

student’s abilities and turn them into achievements. It is their driving force in doing

the things that they have set their mind to do.

Foreign Studies

According to Brie Anne Garado, Hazel Marie Inductivo, Gerson F

Rodriguez, Joseph Christopher Villahermosa, Genesis P Villegas (2019) Most of

our young people nowadays are struggling because of being a working student. A

working student is now recognized as an established fact rather than as an

observable phenomenon and it has been one of the major problems among

institutions. This study reveals the overall difficulties faced by working students.

There have been studies conducted on time management and educational

achievement in business students (Sayari, Jalagat, & Dalluay, 2017). For students

to better manage their curriculum and achieve learning objectives, these time

management behaviors or skills are argued to improve the positive academic output

(Razali et al., 2018). It has also been association with low anxiety and greater

academic achievement in students (Jenaabadi, Nastiezaie, & Jalalzaei, 2016). time

management is also an effective predictor of educational achievement as with poor

time management skills it gets difficult for students to plan their studies and which

causes them anxiety and agitation at the assessment time which usually takes place

at the end of the course (Scherer, Talley, & Fife, 2017).

Students have previously linked negative educational results with poor time

management which could be partially self-serving bias, however, there have been

ample studies that establish this association (Nadinloyi et al., 2013; Kharadze,

Gulua, & Davit, 2017).

ASIAN INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER STUDIES

Local Studies

This study is focused on how time management skills influence students’

academic performance in Asian Institute Of Computer Studies. The method of

research applied by the researcher in this study is the quantitative descriptive

research utilizing itemized rating scales. When it comes to the extent of students

prioritization techniques affecting their time management all the student

respondents strongly agreed that they make checklist of the things that they need to

do every day. Based on the result of the study the respondents strongly agreed

when it comes to the extent of students academic procrastination affecting their

time managements. Regarding to the extent of students prioritization techniques

affecting their time management all the student respondents strongly agreed that

they make checklist of the things that they need to do every day.

PhillippineEjournal(2019).

Efficient time management not only leads to better academic performance

but also improves physical health and reduces stress levels. This study aimed to

enhance educational competency through the use of time management techniques,

addressing test pressure, and improving test proficiency (Faisal, Miqdadi, Abdulla

& Mohammad, 2014). The results showed that academic competence scores were

somewhat higher in the sample, indicating that students found the course material

engaging and enjoyed their classes.

According to Logdon (2020) discusses the benefits of time management for

working students, stating that it can reduce stress levels and keep their minds fresh.

Breaking down tasks into smaller chunks can also help minimize stress and
ASIAN INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER STUDIES

maintain mental clarity. This approach allows working students to feel a sense of

accomplishment as they make progress in completing their responsibilities.

Synthesis

The literature analysis focused light on the difficulties encountered by

working students in the Philippines, specifically highlighting the negative effects of

work-related stress and socioeconomic factors on academic performance. Financial

limitations, problems managing one's time, and stressors that affect students'

general wellbeing are all factors that contribute to the difficulties of maintaining a

balance between work and school.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND WRITING

This chapter describes the method of research design, the respondents of the study,

the instrument used, the data gathering procedures, and statistical treatment of data.

Writing the Introductory Paragraph

Time management can be very useful in a student's hectic schedule. It

ensures that students are well prepared, organized and focused to manage their

daily lives and complete academic assignments on time. It can lead to improved

success, however, this is a skill that students have to learn and practice. In the

Philippines, a number of variables impact working students. Fear of losing their job

and how it would affect their income and standard of living is a significant factor.

The workload is an additional aspect that may impact their academic success.

Furthermore, having to work while in school may cause problems with time

management and self-efficacy, which may have an impact on their academic

achievement. This study investigates the effect of students’ time management on

their academic performance in the higher education at Asian Institutes Of

Computer Studies.
