Creating Business Pitch Decks

Pitch Deck

 A presentation utilized to inform and explain ideas or projects in the


business context to potential/existing investors, partners or peers.
 Its purpose is to be a medium of communication to persuade the
audience that the proposed idea is worth the consideration and
support.
 It is a visual aid for business proposals.
 It tells the audience about:
o What is the idea
o Why it is important
o What is needed to support the idea
o How it works
o How it is beneficial to its investors

Purposes of a Pitch Deck

 To Attract – Potential investors and lenders


 To Gain – Approval, Attention and Support
 To Communicate – Ideas and proposals into a visual
representation
 To Persuade – Show the purpose and value of the idea

Characteristics of an Effective Pitch Deck

 Concise – Uses only the sufficient amount of information and


graphics
 Visual – Use of graphs and charts
 Data – Includes all the facts and information necessary
 Chronological – Information flows in a logical manner
 Goal – Shows the purpose of the pitch and ends with a request

Standard Sections in a Pitch Deck

 Title – First impression and identity


o Name of the Business or Proposal or Project
o Logo of the Business or Project
o Name of the Presenter
 Problem – Justification
o The challenges that the project aims to provide a solution to
o Experiences that must be dealt with using the project
 Solution – Addressing the Problem
o The product/system that fixes the challenges faced
 Market Opportunity – Shows demand
o Market – Potential customers who may buy or use a product
o Includes:
 Target Users – Specific population targeted as the audience
 Market Size – Totality of the population
 Potential Growth – Ability to increase in size, revenue and
popularity
 Product/Technology – Feasibility
o Describes the features, software/hardware, and design of the
solution

 Apps – Its specific functions or tools
 Systems – How it works and how secure it is
 Platforms – How It runs
 Business Model – Sustainability
o How the project earns revenue
o Includes:
 Subscription – Fees paid in a monthly basis (Usually)

starts to recover cost and earned profit
 Funding Ask - Request
o States how much money is needed to support the project
