Welcome to Your Holiday Reading Adventure!

During this break, you'll be exploring an exciting collection of books that will help you think deeply
about making a positive impact in your community. Get ready to discover inspiring stories and
learn about amazing people who have made a difference in the world!

📖 Your Reading Mission

As you read through the books in our special collection, keep these three essential questions in
mind. These will guide your thinking and help you connect what you're reading to real life:

1. In what ways can you help your community?

• Think about the different ways characters in your books help others
• Consider what problems exist in communities and how they can be solved
2. How can one person make a difference?
• Look for examples of individuals who created positive change
• Notice how small actions can lead to big impacts
3. In what ways can advances in science be helpful or harmful?
• Pay attention to scientific discoveries or inventions mentioned in your books
• Think about both the positive and negative effects of new technologies

📝 Reading Response Requirement

After reading each book, you MUST complete a reading response (Reading Log). Choose
questions from the Reading Response Log Questions document that has been provided to you.
This will help you think deeper about what you've read and connect it to our essential questions.
Requirements:
• Complete a response for each book you read
• Choose questions from at least 3 different sections of the response menu
• Write thoughtful, complete answers (3-5 sentences minimum per question)

📝 Reading Tips for Success

✅ Set a Reading Schedule: Try to read a little bit each day rather than cramming it all in at once

✅ Take Notes: Jot down interesting ideas, characters, or examples that relate to our essential
questions

✅ Think While You Read: Ask yourself how each story connects to helping communities and
making a difference

✅ Discuss with Family: Share what you're learning with family members - they might have great
insights too!
