1️⃣ What is the Collaborative Task?

¿En qué consiste la tarea colaborativa?


In this part of the exam, you will have a short conversation with the examiner (about 4
minutes).
The examiner gives you a prompt — a short situation or opinion — and you lead the
conversation by asking questions, commenting, and giving your opinion.
En esta parte del examen tendrás una conversación corta (unos 4 minutos) con el
examinador.
El examinador te da un “prompt” (una situación o idea breve) y tú diriges la
conversación: haces preguntas, comentas y expresas tus opiniones.
2️⃣What do you have to do?
¿Qué tienes que hacer?
✅ Ask questions about the prompt.
✅ Comment on the examiner’s answers.
✅ Show interest and keep the conversation going.
✅ Speculate, agree or disagree politely.
✅ Highlight advantages and disadvantages.
Ejemplo de flujo de conversación:
1. Examiner: “I’m not sure if it’s a good idea for students to leave school at 16.”
2. You: “Why do you think that?”
3. Examiner: “Some people are not ready to work at that age.”
4. You: “That’s true. On the other hand, some young people are quite mature.”

Prompt:
“My cousin has just started university and has been offered a free course on how to
live independently. I think he should take it, but he isn’t interested.”
Candidate: Why do you think he should take it?
Examiner: Because many students don’t know how to cook or manage money.
Candidate: That’s true. Maybe he thinks it’s boring, though.
Examiner: Possibly. He says he already knows how to look after himself.
Candidate: I see. But it could still help him with time management or cleaning.
Examiner: That’s a good point.
Candidate: So, do you think more universities should offer this type of course?
In this example, the candidate keeps asking, reacting and extending the conversation.
