DEVELOPING, TESTING AND LAUNCHING NEW PRODUCTS & SERVICES

1. NEW PRODUCT PLANNING

New product planning means preparing a complete plan before creating a new product. It includes
understanding customer needs, studying the market, collecting ideas, deciding the budget, and
setting timelines. It is the first step that creates a clear direction for the whole development process.

2. CONCEPT OF NEW PRODUCT

A new product is something new for the market or the company. It may be a completely new
invention or an improved version of an existing product. Examples include new models, new
features, new packaging, or new uses of old products.

3. NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS (NPD)

The NPD process includes several steps:

• Idea Generation – Collecting new ideas from customers, employees, competitors.

• Idea Screening – Removing bad ideas and selecting the best ones.

• Concept Development and Testing – Creating a clear concept and testing it with customers.

• Business Analysis – Estimating cost, price, sales, profit, and risk.

• Product Development – Creating a prototype and testing quality.

• Market Testing – Launching in a small area for feedback.

• Commercialization – Launching the product in the full market.

4. BUSINESS ANALYSIS

Business analysis examines whether the product will be profitable. It includes cost estimation, price
estimation, demand forecasting, profit calculation, risk analysis, and determining the break-even
point. It ensures that the new product is financially safe for the company.

5. DEVELOPING, TESTING AND LAUNCHING

Developing means creating the product sample (prototype) and testing it for quality and
performance. Testing includes laboratory testing, consumer testing, and market testing. Launching
means introducing the product into the full market with advertising, promotion, distribution, and final
pricing decisions.

SUMMARY

New product planning prepares the roadmap. The new product concept explains the idea. The NPD
