Project Name:
Rfid Based Kid Security System with
SMS & Real Time Location
Introduction
Security for the school going kids on the
school bus or van is very important. Lots of
unwanted events occur we see in news day by
day. This project is based on the problem we
are facing for the school kids security.
Working
1. The Driver have to authenticate himself daily before start driving,
that the driver is drunk or not with the help of alcohol sensor.
2. The result of alcohol sensor is shown on the LCD screen. After
that only driver will get a permission to drive the bus.
3. All kids are provided with unique RFID card.
4. While onboarding with the help of conductor kid have to scan
their RFID card on the RFID reader.
5. The RFID will mark their attendance on the school website and
send the message to the respected parents of the child.
6. The GPRS will constantly send the child location on the mobile
application of the parents module.
7. Once the child reaches to the school he/she will again have to
scan their RFID card on the module which will sent a message to
the parents that their child has reached the school safely with
location.

• EM18 RFID reader
• Radio frequency Identification (RFID) is a wireless identification
technology that uses radio waves to identify the presence of RFID tags.
• Categorised into two types
1. Active RFID system
operating at a frequency of 455 MHz, 2.45 GHz, or 5.8 GHz
Having a read range of 60 feet to 300 feet (20 meters to 100 meters)
2. Passive RFID system
• They operate in Low frequency (~125 KHz) as well as High frequency
(~13 MHz) band
• have limited read range of up to ~1m.
• GSM SIM300
This GSM Modem can accept any GSM network operator SIM card and act just
like a mobile phone with its own unique phone number. Advantage of using this
modem will be that you can use its RS232 port to communicate and develop
embedded applications
A GSM/GPRS MODEM can perform the following operations:
1. Receive, send or delete SMS messages in a SIM.
2. Read, add, search phonebook entries of the SIM.
3. Make, Receive, or reject a voice call.
• GPS Module
• Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based system that uses
satellites and ground stations to measure and compute its position on
Earth.
• GPS is also known as Navigation System with Time and Ranging
(NAVSTAR) GPS.
• GPS receiver needs to receive data from at least 4 satellites for accuracy
purpose. GPS receiver does not transmit any information to the satellites.
• This GPS receiver is used in many applications like smartphones, Cabs,
Fleet management etc.
Alcohol Sensor
● This module is made using Alcohol Gas Sensor MQ3. It is a low cost semiconductor
sensor which can detect the presence of alcohol gases at concentrations from 0.05 mg/L
to 10 mg/L.
● The sensitive material used for this sensor is SnO2, whose conductivity is lower in clean
air. It’s conductivity increases as the concentration of alcohol gases increases. It has high
sensitivity to alcohol and has a good resistance to disturbances due to smoke, vapor and
gasoline.
● This module provides both digital and analog outputs. MQ3 alcohol sensor module can be
easily interfaced with Microcontrollers, Arduino Boards, Raspberry Pi etc.
● This alcohol sensor is suitable for detecting alcohol concentration on your breath. It has a
high sensitivity and fast response time.
● Sensor provides an analog resistive output based on alcohol concentration. The drive
circuit is very simple, all it needs is one resistor. A simple interface could be a 0-3.3V ADC
Liquid Crystal Display
● Lcd stands for liquid crystal display. Character and graphical lcds are most
common among hobbyist and diy electronic circuit/project makers.
● Since their interface serial/parallel pins are defined so it's easy to interface
them with many microcontrollers.
● On a character lcd a character is generated in a matrix of 5x8 or 5x7.
Where 5 represents number of coulombs and 7/8 represent number of
rows.
● Maximum size of the matrix is 5x8. You can not display character greater
than 5 x 8 dimension matrix.
