The design process follows 4 main stages often called the Double Diamond Model:

Stage 1: Discover (Research & Explore)

• Understand the problem clearly
• Research user needs, existing solutions, and limitations
• Collect information and inspiration
• Activities: Surveys, brainstorming, interviews, online research

Example: Researching what makes a good name tag before designing one.

Stage 2: Define (Plan & Focus)

• Analyze the information gathered
• Clearly define the design problem and objectives
• Decide on the key features and requirements
• Activities: Problem statements, goal setting

Example: Deciding the size, colors, and information to include on the name tag.

Stage 3: Develop (Create & Experiment)

• Generate ideas and create prototypes
• Experiment with layouts, colors, and elements
• Seek feedback from peers or users
• Activities: Sketching, digital design, mock-ups
Example: Creating multiple name tag designs using Canva or Photoshop.

Stage 4: Deliver (Finalize & Present)

• Select the best design solution
• Refine and finalize the product
• Present or launch the design
• Activities: Printing, sharing, or publishing the final design
