Abstract
The ability to innovate is essential to a firm’s performance and superior performance in today’s
competitive market. For desired performance and sustainability, innovation is highly needed in overall
business operation to be distinctive from competitors. This study identifies three key variables that helps
to show the impact of innovation on firm performance and its sustainability based on the restaurants and
bakeries in Khulna city. These variables are: Customer Acceptance, Customer Retention and Market
Reputation. The respondents of this study are 120 owners of restaurants and bakeries who is conducting
their business in Khulna city. A structured questionnaire is used to collect data. This study uses
quantitative method- Mean, Standard Deviation, Frequency Distribution, Correlation and Regression to
test these variables.
The findings of the study finds out that innovation has positive impact on Customer Acceptance,
Customer Retention and Market Reputation based on the information collected on restaurants and
bakeries business in Khulna city. Later on, Customer Acceptance Customer Retention and Marker
Reputation are statistical significant with Firm Performance. Finally, Firm Performance found to have a
positive impact on Sustainability. This study findings may help the policy maker and business authority to
set up such an innovation strategy that helps a firm to maximize in level of performance and gains higher
level of customer satisfaction.
Finally, with the objectives achieved, this study concludes with a very organized and specific knowledge
of the ultimate impact of innovation that it has on firm performance and sustainability. The present study
can therefore also serve as a reference point for further studies understanding the relationship between
innovation capabilities and firm performance.
