One of the primary reasons I chose to pursue my graduate studies at De La Salle University is its

alignment with my personal faith and values as a Catholic. The university’s emphasis on faith, service,
and unity resonates deeply with my own principles and has provided me with a framework for both
personal growth and professional development.

Through the university’s sessions on Lasallian vocations, I developed a deeper understanding of


the meaning and practice of faith. I came to realize that faith is not confined to belief in God the Father
but extends to recognizing His presence in the ordinary dimensions of life—in people, in the
environment, in the stories we exchange, and within ourselves. This realization has allowed me to
cultivate greater gratitude, to become more appreciative of daily experiences, and to reorient my
personal goals toward the mission that God calls us to pursue. Moreover, I have learned to seek
discernment in moments of uncertainty and to surrender my plans when circumstances do not align
with my expectations, trusting instead in God’s guidance and direction.

I have also gained a deeper appreciation for the value of service, particularly through the life
and works of St. John Baptist de La Salle. His vision of education as a right for all, rather than a privilege
for the wealthy, was transformative in promoting equality and social justice. His mission to provide
quality education for the poor continues to inspire generations, carried forward by those who share his
vision. This example of servant leadership has influenced my own understanding of service as a
responsibility that extends beyond oneself and seeks to create meaningful change in society.

In the Philippine context, the value of service carries even greater significance. Current issues
such as corruption and the misuse of public resources highlight the urgent need for ethical leadership
and genuine concern for the common good. Through my Lasallian formation, I have become more
discerning of the platforms and integrity of public officials, and I aspire to support and advocate for good
governance that is both transparent and service-oriented.

The value of communion has also shaped my reflections on the importance of belongingness in
both personal and professional contexts. A strong sense of community fosters confidence and resilience,
while also providing individuals with the assurance that they are supported and valued. Attributes such
as camaraderie, loyalty, and trust are cultivated through genuine communion, particularly when it is
centered on God. I have learned that collaboration, rather than individual effort alone, is essential for
achieving shared goals effectively and meaningfully.

Moving forward, I intend to integrate these values into my academic journey and professional
career. I strive to lead and work with integrity, to use my career as a platform for service and education,
and to bear witness to God’s presence through my daily actions. By embodying the Lasallian core values
of faith, service, and communion, I hope to contribute meaningfully to my community and to inspire
others to pursue lives of purpose and integrity.
