Ice at 273 K is more effective in cooling than water at the same temperature because ice absorbs more heat due to the latent heat of fusion when it melts to become water at the same temperature, causing a greater temperature reduction .

Uniform acceleration means the rate of change of velocity is constant over time. A body can have zero velocity while still having a constant acceleration if, for example, it changes direction or is launched upwards against gravity. The velocity becomes zero momentarily at the peak of the ascent. Despite zero velocity at that instant, acceleration (such as gravitational pull) remains constant .

Parenchyma cells are living cells with thin cell walls, which allow them to perform various functions such as storage, secretion, and photosynthesis, depending on their location in the plant. These cells aid in photosynthesis when they contain chloroplasts and significantly contribute to storage due to their loosely packed structure, which facilitates storage and the movement of nutrients .

Distance is a scalar quantity measuring the total path length travelled, always positive, whereas displacement is a vector quantity representing the shortest path between initial and final positions, which can be positive, negative, or zero depending on direction. In circular motion, distance accounts for the entire path around the circle, whereas displacement could be zero if the start and end point are the same .

ATP is considered the 'energy currency of the cell' because it stores and provides energy for many cellular processes. It serves as an immediate source of energy for reactions requiring energy input, such as biochemical synthesis and muscle contraction. The high-energy phosphate bonds in ATP can be hydrolyzed to release energy, fueling various cellular activities .

Plasmolysis occurs when a plant cell loses water through osmosis, causing the cell membrane to detach from the cell wall as the cytoplasm shrinks. This typically happens in hypertonic environments where the external solute concentration is higher than that inside the cell. It can lead to wilting and affect the plant's ability to maintain turgor pressure, crucial for structural integrity and nutrient transport .

The bone's mechanical properties are determined by its structure and composition, including the lamellae arrangement, and the inclusion of phosphates and carbonates of calcium and magnesium in its matrix. These provide rigidity and strength, allowing bones to support the body's weight and protect vital organs while enabling movement by acting as rigid levers that work with muscles .

Steam causes more severe burns than boiling water because steam contains the additional latent heat of vaporization. When steam condenses into water upon contact with skin, it releases this extra energy, transferring more heat compared to boiling water at the same temperature, which doesn't involve a phase change .

The cell wall consists mainly of cellulose, a complex carbohydrate that provides strength and rigidity, ensuring structural support and protection. The arrangement of cellulose and other polysaccharides like hemicellulose and pectin forms a dynamic yet sturdy matrix, supporting plant cells against mechanical stress and contributing to the overall plant structure .

Lysosomes are called 'suicide bags' because they contain enzymes capable of digesting cellular components. They play a vital role in autophagy, energy release from cellular debris recycling, and apoptosis, ensuring damaged or obsolete components are efficiently broken down. This function is essential for maintaining cellular health and regulating biological processes .
