Dear Sir/Ma,
LETTER OF INTRODUCTION
I am a postgraduate student conducting an academic research study titled “Assessment of
Passive Security Strategies in Mixed-Use Buildings in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.” This study
forms part of the requirements for the award of my degree in Architecture.
The purpose of this research is to examine the passive security measures integrated into mixed-
use buildings and to evaluate their effectiveness in enhancing safety, sustainability, and user
well-being. The findings are intended strictly for academic purposes and to provide design
recommendations that can improve security planning in future mixed-use developments.
Your building has been selected as part of the case study due to its mixed-use characteristics. I
respectfully seek your permission to administer questionnaires to occupants/users and to carry
out basic observation of building features relevant to the study. The information obtained will be
treated with strict confidentiality and will be used solely for research purposes. No personal
identity or sensitive building information will be disclosed.
Your cooperation will greatly contribute to the success of this research, and I sincerely
appreciate your support.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
